Has anyone installed Schrick Cams?

Has anyone actually installed Schrick Cams in their NA or F/I S65?

These:
http://www.turnermotorsport.com/BMW-...s-schrick.aspx

In my search I've only stumbled upon a few threads of people asking if it's worth it...seems like the general consensus is "Nope" lol.

I would think that cams, coupled with a straight through free flowing exhaust and the right tuning would make for some nice top-end N/A gains for those not wanting to supercharge their engine. Could be nice for a N/A tracking application.

I want to see if anyone has actually installed these, and if you have any before/after dyno's? Thoughts and impressions?

Thanks guys.

I can't imagine they wouldn't add power, and they make two diff sets; ( I prefer the more radical lift)... I can only imagine how good it would sound. I was just thinking the same thing; been looking at em for a while; curious if anyone is using em.

Had them on my E46 M3.

Don't bother, it costs too much, not enough gains, and needs a proper tune.

Which cams did you have on the E46 and who did your tuning?

As STALKER mentioned, the absolutely key to reaping the benefits of aggressive cams is the tuning. You're going to need completely different VANOS mapping by an experienced tuner. That is provided that the cams are also installed and timed correctly too.

I've too have thought about this many times when looking through turners site. I would love to try it, but when considering hp vs. risk/price, I'd probably be forced to supercharge. I just wouldn't want to be the guinea pig for NA gains.

Previous threads mentioned the difficulty with having them is finding someone who can properly tune your car once you install. Even then, the best gains are for people with FI.

Had them for my e36M. Only way to get near 300hp without a blower. You would need bigger injectors intake MAF and some other goodies though. For the e9x I am not sure what you would need.

Thanks for the info guys! Does seem like tuning is the key to extracting the maximum potential out of these.

We have no MAF, and I can't see the injectors being over-run with cams and exhaust; I would add a fuel pump, and possibly Dinan TBs.. I am really looking hard at these, but damn they are expensive for cams.. I would be curious to see the car tuned though and what the injector duty cycle looked like.

These aren't the cams you want for forced induction. These are NA cams.

I have them on my E36 M3 as well and they work perfect with the Porsche HFM and 24lbs injectors !
For the E9x you will need to find the right tuner to tune it.Its very doable and i know who can do it !

You will trade low end power, which is already weak, for top end power. This is already a high strung 8000 rpm motor. For a track car, I would go for the cams. For a daily driven street car, I would not. I would put the money towards a supercharger.

I ran Shricks on my E36M3. Completely different car with an engine rated at about the same torque and horsepower (240/236). The Shricks 256/264 work great and are actually a mild combination for the E36M3, with virtually no bottom end loss and about 9 rwhp top end gain.

I'd rather just supercharge this motor, rather than tinker around with its internals. ESS supercharged cars seem very reliable.
