Why is my camber only at .07?

Note, my camber is at .7 not .07. I mistyped.

I just got an alignment on my 2011 sedan (comp package) and my front camber is only at .7 on both sides. I understand that this cannot be adjusted without pulling the alignment pins, but why would the camber not even be at the minimum .78 BMW alignment spec?

Was that the max neg camber the tech could get or did the tech set the camber to be equal on both sides? Do you know if one side is maxed out but the other side still has more range of adjustment?

If the rack hasn't been calibrated recently perhaps the rack measurements are not correct?

I thought you can't adjust the camber without pulling the alignment pins...

You're right - I'm using camber plates so I always forget about the lack of factory camber adjustment.

I wonder if their alignment rack needs to be calibrated?

The alignment equipment used may not be accurate or calibrated correctly. If the equipment is not calibrated correctly, everything else will be off as well, especially on the rear end of the car.

All factory M3's I aligned have around -1.0* of camber.

I would be more than happy to take a look for you.

Hmmm, you guys are making me a little worried. Although, the BMW specs are based on the car being weighted in accordance with their instructions. My car was aligned without any added weight, which I would assume could make a difference.

My own personal experience with getting my car corner balanced and aligned with me in the car, and then climbing out to see what impact not having weight in the driver's seat is a camber delta of +/-0.15 deg. As Malek has stated most stock M3s have a minimum of ~-1.0 deg of camber. In your case, based on my experience, adding weight would only increase your camber to a max of ~-0.22 which is still well below a typical stock camber setting.

Where did you get the car aligned - dealership or independent shop? I'd ask them when was the last time their rack was calibrated.

are you sure they're measuring in degrees, not minutes or inches or something?

Sorry guys, it is .7 degrees not .07, so it sounds like I am within the range with weight in the car.

At -0.7*, the camber specification is still out as those specifications are made with a a lot more weight than just the drivers weight.

2 68 kg weights on each of the front seats, seats must be set in central position.
1 14 kg weight in trunk
Full tank of fuel.

The car should have been aligned with weight, at the very least, the drivers weight.

Any camber changes will affect toe changes on the rear axle. If your static alignment was set without you or any weight in the car, the camber will shift toward the more negative end with your weight added. As a result, the toe will change as well which will also affect thrust angle.
