Spacer size for 18" RAC RG63 on e9x

Hey guys, just picked up a pair of RAC rg63 wheels in 18" size for my m3.

My suspension setup is eibach springs. I will be running these wheels with 265/35 and 285/35 Hankook RS3 tires.

The offset of the RAC wheels is 38mm front and 27mm rear and they are 18x9 / 18x10.

I am thinking to go with either +12 or +15mm in the front and a 5mm spacer in the rear.

Any ideas? I like a fairly aggressive look, but dont want to deal with rubbing. I also would like recommendations on a good spacer brand.

Thanks!

I couldn't tell you which front to get but either should work.

Get a piece of tape about 6" long. Stick a coin to it. Hang it from the edge of the fender. Get a ruler that has metric measurements on it. Measure from the edge of the tire. This will tell you how thick a spacer you can use without rub. Maybe some other methods available, and it may not be aggressive enough for you, but it works.

The ones you listed should work just fine. You want the ET to be between 22-26 depending on your suspension, tire size, and alignment.

You could run the rears with no spacer also, but the fronts will need at least 10mm, I would go with 12mm personally.

If you want a flush look you could go with a 18mm up front but +15 is probably optimal. For reference, my TE37SL's are +15 up front.

The 5mm in the rear should be about perfect too. On my Volk's they are +20 in the rear and with my 285/35 tire I rub on big dips, BUT, I am way lower in the back than you will be. I think it I were +22 in the rear it wouldn't rub anyway. That is a sweet track setup.

perfect, thanks.

im thinking 15 and 5, as the offset would be pretty close to what I am looking for. hopefully i wont rub with the rs3 tires

nice, thanks ashley. i really liked the fitment of your advan wheels too, what was the offset on those?

im thinking 15 and 5 might be the spot.

Agree with 15/5 setup with those offsets. You should PM Radiation Joe, he has had the same wheels on his E90. Go to Turner for spacers or check the classifieds for a used set.

FYI, I have the same wheels and found that both Rogue and Macht Schnell spacers caused a wheel vibration issue on the fronts which only went away when removing the spacer. I do not think the face of the wheel is compatible. That is all I know. I did not try a spacer on the rears.

You might have a different experience but I did NOT get the steering wheel to stop shaking until I removed the spacers.

The wheels were road force balanced at the best shop in town with a GSP9700 (?) Hunter machine.

Definitely looking forward to seeing pics of this setup with the mild drop of the Eibachs.

15mm front and 5mm rear sounds pretty good.

Best of luck with the TMS spacers.

Too bad you could not find 4 rears. I tried to find 4 rears when I was looking for my new track set up.

that would be amazing.....it was enough of a bastard to find these wheels as is. but the offsets and sizes would be perfect in the front (if even a touch aggressive)

what size RAC do you have? The e9x fitment 19s?

Definitely looking forward to it!

The E46 M3 is doing very well. I have been too busy to take the time off to install the Airbox. I am hoping to during the last week of March though! Pretty exciting stuff.

I'm not sure if you saw, but I ended up switching up my header setup to SS V1 Stepped and SPipe. Then I got an updated tune to be a Beta Tester for their catless O2 readiness feature. All I have to say is that my car pulled SO MUCH harder than my previous header and tune. So I am pretty excited to see how the car performs with the Airbox and Alpha-N.

really?

so you now are running catless? before you had v2 and the CP 200 euro section 1?

interesting that the gains were that strong...let me know how the airbox and MAF-less tune treats you when you can get it done

Comparing just the two different header and section 1 setups without any tune, it was the power delivery that really changed. With the SS V1 Stepped and V1 SPipe, I didn't experience any plateau in the top end of power, it pulled hard all the way to redline.

Then comparing the two tuned setups, the Evolve Stage 2 Tune on the V1 Stepped just really exaggerated that delivery. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to dyno that updated tune, but I will be with the Evolve CF Airbox.

Exciting stuff man! I was going to go balls out on the S54B32 but with the way the car performs now, I am very content with the power. Now I'm just waiting for my OE CSL CF Roof to come in so I can be like the E92 M3 guys

Alright fellas, so they are ON.

Setup is as follows

18x9 ET38 fronts - 265/35/18 RS3 Tires w/ TMS 15mm spacer
18x10 ET27 rears - 285/35/18 RS3 Tires w/ TMS 5mm spacer

My suspension setup is eibach springs only.

The fitment is more aggressive than I thought, mainly bc these tires run WIDE as hell, especially compared to a narrow and weak looking PSS tire which I had on the car before. The 265 RS3 is noticeably wider (with a 9" wheel on em) than a PSS with a 275 and a 10" wheel.

The difference in feel on the street is huge. The car feels (possible placebo effect) quicker at lower speeds to get off the line, turns in way faster, has less roll (makes sense due to sidewall stiffness) and rides a lot better. I was really surprised at how the acceleration at low speeds feels much snappier and that the ride was so much better. It makes a huge difference going over bumps on the street.

No vibration issues yet from the TMS spacers. The shop cleaned off the hubs really well, and spent a good bit of time making sure the spacers were squared up properly. The attention to detail was really worthwhile.

So far, I love em. Its going to be hard to go back to running 19s on the street even if they look bigger and more aggressive due to how good these feel. The rs3 tires are impressive so far.

The only negative for the tires is a touch more road noise I think, but I listen to the stereo at a fairly high volume, so its not an issue whatsoever for me. Also, the finish of the wheels is darker than I expected. Im still not sure how i feel about the look on AW. Overall, I do love the aggressive look of the fitment and tires though.

Looking forward to my first track day very soon!

Pics attached.
