Hifi Stereo Amp Upgrade Only

Hi Guys,

I have the Hifi 10 speaker setup in my car. I actually think the sound quality is pretty good for a non-premium setup. When I bought the M3 i promised my wife i would not treat it like my Cayman and cut through metal and fit 9s in the doors rip out the all the Most Fiber wire...etc.

What I want to know is, Has anyone just upgraded the amplifier in the Hifi setup? I think i can deal with the stock speakers. I just want a little more clarity during louder volumes and a little more punch.

I was thinking along the lines of a JL XD600/6. If i set the gains conservatively and run a passive subsonic around 30hz, will the stock Hifi speakers handle around 60w rms each and the subs at 90w rms? And does it sound better?

it does sound better
but sooner or later you will pump the volume and blow the speakers/subs
the tweeters are the worst part of the entore HIFI system
they suck
