Tire Recommendations for Apex Arc 8 wheels

Hey all,

I'm going to get a set of 18'' Apex Arc 8 wheels (18x9.5'' in front offset 22, 18x 10.5 in rear offset 27) on my 2011 E90 M3. I'm running Michelin PS2's (245/40, 260/40 I think?) on the stock 18'' wheels now. I'm primarily changing wheels because I like the look of the black Y style wheels.

As a secondary objective, my parents and GF both complain that the ride is a little bouncy and to keep the peace---I was wondering if there's a specific tire combination on these new wheels that would produce a better ride than my stock PS2's above? And if that's unlikely, will my stock PS2's fit on those Apex wheels? I've got some great opinions so far and wanted to field a few more.

Thanks!

I am running the stock size PS2s on Apex ARC8 18 x 9.5/10.5 for now, because I already had the tires. They are within the recommended tire width for wheel width range, but are not as wide as I would choose.

I will change to 265/35/18 and 285/35/18 PSS after I wear out the PS2s. For a better ride, I would run 255/40/18 and 275/40/18, but I don't have any complaints about ride quality. The extra sidewall will give a little more compliance.

Maybe your tires are overinflated or thin tread and old and hard. Few people complain about the ride with stock 18s on stock tires.

Thanks! Would the 255/40, 275/40 fit on the apex wheels?

Also would the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S (255/45
275/40) fit?

255/45/18 is too tall. You want to stay within a few percent of stock diameter.

All season tires may ride better than performance tires, but at the expense of handling. You could try a lower performance tire rather than an all season tire for more of a cushy ride, again at the expense of handling.

Last week, I put on Arc-8 Hyper Silver wheels sized 9.5 and 10.5. I decided on 265/35/18 and 285/35/18 R-S3 tires. I'll be tracking that setup soon.

I don't find the R-S3's uncomfortable at all, but I am coming from 19" OEM rims. They do tramline a bit more than I'm used to, but nothing bad.

As far as comfort for my passengers------if they want to help out with the car payment, I'll be happy to listen to their suggestions and consider pizza cutters......mmmmm.....maybe not....

Here's the car with the new wheels/tires.

beautiful setup - but it's really crazy. the APEX wheels look like a OEM BMW wheel.
