Some M3 color combinations

Personally, I'm not a big fan off aftermarket rims. The only rims I would replace the optional 19s with would be the wheels on the concept M3. Those wheels are to die for. Will have to enquire will my dealer and see if they are available or not. Got a feeling they wont be, though.

Im not a fan of all black rims myself, prefer a polished edge, I feel all blacks blend in too much.

Carbon rims would look great, question is, which ones and where from?

I partial to Interlagos myself. Just too many white, black, grey and silver BMWs out there.

I think they look bloody horrible. If you want your M3 to look like a fake, or you want people to think you're a chav, then stick after market rims on them.

BMW should have a taste test before they sell cars to the public.

Some look horrible, some look great. I don't think it makes sense to generalize so much like that.

What's to say that BMW won't introduce a new M3 rim sometime in the future that looks almost like some already existing aftermarket rim? Will you then suddenly start liking that aftermarket rim too, just because BMW validated it?

It's not the designs I particularly don't like, but the fact that they are not genuine OEM wheels. This makes the car look fake. I never understand why people who mod their cars do it. Modding is for Japanese cars, not premium high performance cars like BMW's.

The wheels on the Concept M3 are simply the CSL/CS/ZCP wheels. You should be able to purchase those right now if you wanted.

Ha ha ha! Rediculous? How can it be rediculous when it's an opinion? And no, I don't like the Hamann or Brabus cars. The only 'tuner' I would contemplate, and even then it would be unlikely, is Alpina. My problem is that the aftermarket specialist modifications more often than not, turn a classy car into a very unclassy car. They look cheap.

I don't think its a stretch at all to call some opinions ridiculous. There are people who think the world is flat and evolution is pure bunk. Ridiculous is a a perfect way to describe those opinions.

As for Alpina, their cars - to me at least - are some of the most unsightly tuner cars out there. Racing stripes? Wow. And the rims look circa 1980. Now that said, they get big kudos for putting engineering first and adding FI to their cars the right way.

Please don't stop with the aftermarket 'upgrades' people - it's cheap entertainment! However, I cringe whenever I see GT3 owners thinking they are going to improve upon THAT wheel. It's downright criminal replacing those.

The Concept/CSL/CS/ZCP wheels are stunning and will do just fine for mine.

How a car looks is subjective, and therefore an opinion can be formed and it's neither correct nor incorrect.

However, it is a FACT that the Earth is not flat, with evidence to prove it, and therefore any opinion against this is quite clearly rediculous.

So there is a difference.

If you are entitled to your opinion, then shouldn't the same hold true for another?

Personally, I have nothing against modifying any vehicle. Modifications are not just for Japanese cars (if I didn't know any better I'd take that as a blatant prejudicial statement, btw) but rather for any one that wants to make a car their own.

I'm well beyond puberty and I still modify my BMWs. What you have to remember is that BMW is a global company that is attempting to appeal to the largest number of car buyers so they have to make compromises. I modify my car to remove certain compromises.

Also, I see nothing wrong with installing some BBS LMs or other quality rim onto a BMW or any other car. With their racing heritage and history with wheel production their wheels are either on par or even better than OE (and sometimes are OE).

Yes. But I remind you that your query was very clearly:

"How can it be rediculous when it's an opinion?"

I was only making a counterpoint to that blanket statement, and not an more appropriate one whereby you meant to presume subjectivity. Furthermore there are plenty of opinions that lack the support of science but still sound ridiculous. For example, if I said "All BMW's look like shit." or "All people from the Netherlands are cocky assholes." then those would be a pretty ridiculous opinions.

But you can get a Brabus or Hamman car with just engine mods and wheels if you want. And there is no requirement to play loud music.

I agree, I want to go Individual but - of course - there is no information available yet. Not a big shock considdering that the dealers have not received color samples yet. This wait is killing me, and by the sound of it, several other m3post members as well...

Can you guys clarify how the individual works? How do you specify your own color exactly? How is that visualized before ordering? And, how much did it cost on the E46? etc...
