Buddy just bought a Scuderia so we went on a cruise

Buddy just traded in his M3 for a Scuderia with about 10k miles on it. Should he enjoy driving it on the weekends or store it and watch it double in value within the next decade?

Enjoy driving it. It's not realistic to expect it to double in value.

+1

They made too many of them to really appreciate $ wise to the point where it makes more sense to store than drive.

Your friend will get much more out of driving one of Ferraris greatest mid-engined NA V8s than he will by the market value increasing (which may even not happen)

Pile on the miles. The car isn't worth owning otherwise imo.

It will not double in value at all. A 6 speed gated shifter manual F430 will but not a scud.

I can't stand people that purchase cars as investments. They're meant to be enjoyed, especially something that drives as well as a F430 Scud.

Sure it might appreciate in value, but if he can afford a F430 Scuderia I doubt hes in a financial situation where he needs it as an investment.

It will double, simply look at the price of a regular F430 and a 430 Scuderia ( Its not an f430, just called a 430) Its transmission can still hang with the new ones as well.

Ferrari made 15,000+ F430s.

Comparing the value of a standard F430 to a Scud is apples and oranges.

Every Scud I've seen for sale in the last 4-5 years is below MSRP.
Same for the CS. (except super low mileage, factory stripe. no stories cars)

Not saying it wont appreciate but I don't think it will double.

100% agree on the SF2 gearbox. Possibly the best to have ever been created.

I would drive it. Not daily it. And it will probably still not depreciate much.

Enjoy the car. Parking it for a couple decades is silly. Who knows what problems that NOT driving it will bring up.

life's short, drive and enjoy every one bit of it. the scuderia will not double in value, a F430 with the gated manual is more likely to tho.

drive it and enjoy it. throw the equivalent cash in the market and achieve a similar return there + whatever the car appreciates. hedge your bet with some exposure to autonomous driving tech; anyone's guess how that will impact collectible car prices over the course of the next decade, but I think you can safely assume that sector is going to grow.

Let's be honest, you trade in an M3 and buy a scud....are you really not going to drive it & enjoy it? You have a ferrari and you're going to park it? Why buy it in the first place? Life's too short to park a ferrari as an investment (for most people, unless you can afford that lifestyle).

It's simple. Drive it, maybe not everyday, but certainly enjoy it.

First mistake was trading in the m3 for a Ferrari..

Jk, drive it and enjoy it. Or get the m3 back and drive it and enjoy that.

What's wrong with cars as an investment if you have a pile of dough would you rather have a cool bank statement to look at or stable of cars?

Come on people I thought we were car enthusiasts, of course drive it like you stole it. Cars are made to be driven not garage queens. You can’t take it with you when you die. The US stock market is at an all time high, if you have a pile of dough put it in that, almost all stock now turns into gold. It’s silly to think of this car as a investment. If you want to invest buy a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO.

If I had that kind of coin, Scuderia will be a toy and as such, driven when the mood strikes. Car appreciation, investing, etc are reserved for the Jay Lenos, etc that have a considerable amount of vehicles and hover at concourse d'elegance instead of car shows.
Never bought a car thinking how much am I going to get when I sell it, goes against my car guy ways.
Drive it when you can, enjoy it all the time.
