Complete Respray to M3 - reducing value?

Hi guys, will be moving up to my M3 in a few months time

Cant wait, I want to go for AW, but, unfortunatly for some reason, here in the UK, white coloured modern cars, are far more expensive than black, grey etc.

In a ideal world, I know a place not too far, that is a professional car respray shop, for a relatively hefty price tag to respray to AW.

They complete strip the car, spray it, inc door shuts, inner boot so everything and put it back together, so from a finish point of view, it will be sublime.

However, my question is that, will it devalue my car?, as I will have to tell the DVLA about the color change, and it will state it on the V5 registration documents that there was a color change from/to etc.

But presuming the finish is immaculate, do you think it will devalue my car?

Thanks guys.

From what I've noticed Alpine White is a popular colour in the UK for M3s but wouldn't necessarily think its more expensive.

In terms of re-sale impact of a respray I would and assume others would as well be a little bit more cautious knowing that fact.

Surely it would be most cost effective to have the car wrapped ?
You can have then have any sort of finish you want really and remove if you want / sell the car ?

I'm in the motor trade and trust me bro it will devalue the car get it wrapped but only by a decent firm!!
It will come up on Hpi checks that it had a colour change!!
I would of said white is the most popular colour out there at the moment in the uk.

you pay no extra for white when you purchase new from the dealer , only extras are for metallic colours like sapphire black, moonstone , silver etc etc .
white cars actually look cheap imho
only in japan should you spec a car in white , as the japanese love white car !!!

Wrap it!

No way should you respray. When I was looking for my car there were loads of AW examples available and they weren't anymore expensive.

Dont do it. Wrap all the way. A wrap wont keep you happy if you are an absolute perfectionist as its not as good as real paint but it comes damn close. I wrapped my R8 orange and they even did inside the doors. Unless you looked really close you cant tell but remember a wrap is more likely to show up stone chips more than real paint will. I already had a few marks after only have the wrap on for 6 months. It helped me sell the car tho!
