But seeing that's it's not a year ago, and realizing that it never actually was an Obama campaign slogan (it's actually the title of a book by Newt Gingrich - you knew that, right?), it seems kind of pathetic to bring it up now. But of course that's just par for this forum.

I agree, the alternatives are not any better. Gonna be a tough choice this go around - but I have already seen the present track record so I know that option is out.

In an incumbent situation, I try to base my decision on whether to re-elect giving equal weighting to not only what they have accomplished and the state of affairs under their watch, but also what prior issues they have allowed to continue/problems not solved & what they have NOT accomplished.

Following that route, I honestly couldn't vote for Obama for re-election even if I had voted for him the 1st time...

New choices don't seem to have any 'shining' attributes, but for my choice - I'm going to give someone else a try.

You are 100% correct, there are enough people on welfare, section 8 and other "programs" that will vote for obama that he will more then likely still win and everyone that runs there own business or works for a living will be able to pay for all of his voters lives as well as we will be faced with another 4 years of pain.

One of my biggest problems is the pervading attitude that the working Middle Class is somehow beholding to the 'less fortunate' to supply them with a better standard of living FREE on our dollar

I've had a job of one sort or another since I was 13 years old, bought all my own cars, houses, food, entertainment, insurance, paid for 6 yrs of college to get where I am now.

I realize there are people without my opportunities, but where is it written that it's MY job to fund their lives?


The very wealthy have yachts, multiple homes, private jets, multiple hi end cars - by the current way of thinking I am less fortunate than them and should receive some of those goodies for free - but lo, where's it at? I ain't seeing nuttin

Guess it only works one way?

I'm sure not going around constantly demanding that they subsidize a better standard of living for me - guess that's because I have ETHICS and would actually feel embarassed if I could not adequately provide for my family.

I couldn't give 2 shits less whether someone less fortunate than me gets a higher standard of living off my hard earned $$

Anyone that feels different is welcome to their opinion - but how about we have THOSE people foot the bill since they are so charitable, and leave me off the hook

Is it really? Then you don't mind working hard for your $$, just so you can give it away to someone that has no intention of EVER getting a job?

And by 'less fortunate' (you see I have that in quotes in my OP), I'm not talking about the people that REALLY need help, I'm talking about the low life, scumbags that know how to work the system, know that they don't have to get a job & pride themselves on doing so.

IDK about NY, but the welfare system in PA is corrupt down to the core, with a lot of known fraud going on - yet nothing is ever done? I'm quite sure that this is going on countrywide.

Why doesn't the freakin Gov't step in and take care of this - instead of worrying about what kind of light bulbs I'm using in my house (aka no more incandescent bulbs - we MUST all use fluorescent)


Another example is Catholic School - my kids went to Catholic school for all of their elementary grades - and I willingly PAID ~ $2100/yr/kid to send them there. Just about time for them to enter high school, it was determined that all those that couldn't afford to pay for Catholic school & have that benefit, were going to be able to attend for free - and my cost of tuition was going to double to cover it!

Needless to say, my kids went to Public High School after that, as I'm not footin someone else's free ride.

So I guess Public School is not good enough for these people? I went to Public School for 12 years and turned out just fine. It was mainly my wife's wishes to send them to the 'private' school.

I didn't always have it EZ either, had many years in the early days that were tough and $$ was tight - you learn to do without. Guess the difference is, I don't feel 'entitled' to live the way I do

For the record, I'm not just harpin' on the 'freebie list' I don't believe we should have bailed out all those fat cat banks & corporations either.
