GT:5 out in 2/2/10? [Megathread]

Was at Game Stop today and the guy mentioned that GT:5 had finally been given a release date of February the 2nd. Also surprised to see that they were accepting preorders, did mine and result, i think.

P.S: The Megathread was only because Forza has one and i think the GT5 should also have one.

Impossible. The guy didn't know jack shit and they take pre orders without even knowing a release date. I know people that had september 09 preorders for GT5 and just go pushed back. Earliest anyone will get this game is March 31, 2010.

I was on GT Planet a few days ago but thought he knew better.

The Graphics are amazing but there is only so much time a guy can play Prologue and Forza. Come on Polyphony Digital!

Just some details that we seem to have gleaned. Kazunori Yamaguchi has confirmed that the game will have 1000 Cars with more downloadable content to be had later.

This was a translation of details that were posted on their Japanese website (and then taken down mysteriously).

1,000 vehicles
170 Premium new models (full interior modeling, the interior corresponds to vehicle damage)
830 kinds of standard model (some are from Gran Turismo 4 that have been carried over to GT5) [Read: Cars we have seen in GT4 before ]

All 1000 have in car view, only 170 will have damage.

Anyway, it seems they take upto 6 months to add a car in the game, even going to the manufacturer and having them ship headlights so that they can be taken apart to be accurately depicted. When they go to such trouble, the result will be great!

for those 170 cars with damage, expect damage models never seen before in a racing game. Polyphony is a company full of perfectionists, the damage on those cars are gonna be realistic to the max. Hopefully patches will be added to the game so damage models will be on more than 170 cars.

I'm really pumped about this game coming out but they have been giving rough estimates of release dates forever. I remember at one point they said Fall '09. So much for that.

Fantastic Graphics, no doubt. Did anybody notice that the graphics for FM3 are nothing like the screenshots that were distributed before it was launched?

It will tide me over till GT is released though.
