System that reads powersteering?
Took my car in for service as the battery seemed to be going bad. I get call from my SA today and he tells me that they were having an issue with the "Mechatronics" and found that the sensor that monitors the pressure as I am going around the turn that helps counter pressure the power steering was damaged due to my wider tires at the front of the vehicle. He stated that the sensor is found inside the drivers side wheel well.
The replacement part with install is $330 so it's not terrible and they said they would re-route the sensor so that the tire would not touch it again. I'm waiting on a part number from him but this seems odd as I have never heard or read of wider tires at the front causing an issue other than potential rubbing. It's an '08 coupe with EDC Front tires are 265/30/19 on VMR VB3 9.5 at the front with M3 offsets. *Update* So the sensor is fine however the cable that runs to the sensor was severed. The SA is claiming that it could have been due to the lowered suspension (H&R Springs) or the wider tires.* Does this sound right?
