Has anyone cross-shopped the E92 and the Evora

What were your thoughts?

It will be awhile before people accept a Lotus as a daily driver, at least here in the US. The Elise/Exige are different because the vast majority are weekend toys...

I was seriously considering giving up my E92 for the Evora, but I just couldn't get past the fact that there was less power. Aside from that, driving it a few times I hated that there was no dead pedal and a wall right beside where one should've been. I didn't like how the controls felt "plastic-y". I also didn't like the fact that, during the time I was looking, there weren't many after market options for modding. I did really like like the look of it, but I didn't think it was enough to justify the pick up.

Garage List
1999 VF BMW M3  [5.00]
2001 BMW M5  [0.00]
2008 135i  [5.00]
2003 M3  [3.10]
2011.75 BMW M3  [4.17]
2009 STi  [3.83]
This may be a more relevant topic when the new generation of Lotus vehicles start hitting the streets. I think, at least based on the concepts, that Lotus addresses the lack of premium feel in almost all the new cars.

I didn't, but a colleague of mine got one right at the same time I got my E90 M3. He paid slightly more.

While his car has a definitely more exotic look, it is drastically less practical. I felt, with my 5'10" (145lbs) frame, cramped. The interior did have a decidedly cheap feel. Handling was superb. Acceleration felt adequate, until you switched back to the M3.

I may be biased (my colleague agreed on all these points), but the M3 felt more refined in almost every aspect. If feels huge after the lotus, because it is. Then you start pushing it, and it almost feels as light as the Lotus. It will never garner the "wow" look, but that's not why I bought it. Test drive them both, and tell me you don't come to the same conclusion.

I agree with you. I test drove the Evora quite a few times and always enjoyed driving my ///M more when I got back in it.

love the whole lotus line, but i'm really just a spectator... 6'3" and 230 weren't on the designers minds when they made any of them.

I like the Evora, it's exotic looking but the M3 is an overall better ride for me. Here are a couple of pics I took at a car show. Sexy beast!

The Evora S is pretty appealing but at a cost. The base model doesn't do it for me. The V6 is an awesome motor, just not in that car

I'd much rather have an Elise or Exige. Lotus is about sexy small light weight track-focused cars... the Evora is like an overweight, overpriced and underpowered Exige that is dumbed down for your average consumer.
