Some New Pictures

So my wife wanted a new camera for Christmas. I got her a Canon Rebel T3i. I wanted to see if I could be a photographer today so I had my car washed and drove out to a parking lot. Was not easy, I can tell you that. I ended up picking up my friend Albert and he took these first three...

Look at those compared to the ones I took. I thought it was just point and shoot but no way. I'll get the hang of this soon. Tell me what you guys think...

Some M3s look great while others are too boxy. This looks good.

Thanks. I'm lowered on KW v3's, and the front lip is from Vorsteiner.

Nice ride! I recommend you save the photo files in RAW format so you can play with the exposure and other stuff in Photoshop.

was all of this done free hand or with a tripod? I have the T3i it really is a great camera. I find that at night it is easier to use a tripod and hold the shutter open for a little longer. I do this in manual mode and set the shutter speed to bulb this way as long as my hand is on the button the shutter stays open. It makes for some really nice pics. There is so much you can do with an SLR than with a point and shoot.

+1 to shooting in RAW(CR2 for canon) and editing in photoshop.

The car and pics look fantastic.

good shots and great looking m3! Are you doing any post processing of the photos after you take them, or are you just taking the pictures and posting them online? using photoshop and lightroom to do some adjustments after you take the photos helps a lot! Most of the really breathtaking photos you see on here have been processed to some degree and a ret just straight from the camera.
I got a T3i recently too and have been trying my hand and photography. So far i am really happy with the results. Get a canon 50mm lens if you don't have one already. it is only like $120 and it is awesome for portraits and macro shots. It takes amazing and sharp photos and gives you that cool narrow depth of field effect where the foreground/background are blurred but your subject is sharp (low F). You won't be sorry. I will post some photos I shot with the 50mm on my T3i.
Here is one she with the 50mm straight from the camera, no processing, so you can see the effect I am talking about:

My friend Albert was teaching me about the slow shutter speed for more light. The first three pictures were on a tripod and I believe he used photoshop to process them. The ones I took are straight from the camera. He also taught me about the F numbers which I believe is aperture if I remember correctly? I did take a couple of pictures with my camera but his 50mm lens for that blur effect. One is a rim shot and another is a half car shot. I'm still learning. But without the tripod, the daytime shots seem so much easier. Albert also told me most car pictures are freshened up in photoshop.

Thanks for the compliments.

Definitely try to look up some tutorials or have you friend teach you about how to use manual mode with aperture, shutter speed, ISO, white balance etc. etc. There is so much you can do in manual mode that you can't do in auto. However, auto is great if you just want to snap a quick picture and you don't have time to make sure you're picture will be properly exposed. Here are some examples of what you can do in manual mode that you can't just do in auto. The last picture is an example of what you can do in photoshop and that's just some really basic stuff.

Nice pics and gorgeous car there brosef. If your budget permits, buy only 2.8 glass and stay away from those 18 to 12338234 lens. I rather pack a 27-70 and 70-200 instead of one with enormous range and substandard IQ on the long end. 50mm macros are cheap gems, superb IQ if utilized properly. Don't go cheap on tri/mono pods and flash ( you get those things down the line ). Use SLRGEAR.com is your buying guide, that site never did me wrong.

took some time and edited one of your pics. I am no professional at photoshop. Matter of fact I wouldn't even consider myself an amateur but what do you think?
