OP, safest way to remove that dust/grime is a proper wash using the two bucket method. I use a sheepskin mitt. Also, I would personally spend two hours and clay bar that new car. You'd be surprised how much settled crap you can remove from the paint of a brand new car. Do a google search, DIY's are all over the web.
