It's amazing to me how many people will spend $10-$20k on Superchargers and then have "Lowering Springs" to match on their M3s.
That's a very stupid argument. If people buy the supercharger it's because they can actually use it every single day. A coil over kit like ohlins or jrz is not something that even above average drivers can feel a difference from say a KW as I stated before. If I had the money, I'd definitely buy the blower kits but do lowering springs If I wasn't planning on tracking. There is nothing wrong with that. The M3 is built around handling, not power. If my car already handles great out of the box but in my mind is lacking brute power, then hell yeah I'd buy a charger and keep suspension relatively stock. Spending 10-20k according to u on supercharger is definitely a lot of money, but it in no way justifies spending equally as much On suspension. Suspension that expensive is definitely not meant to be driven on the roads. Drive a car with ohlins or jrz or motons on a road with plenty of potholes, and say goodbye to your shocks. 20g on one aspect of your car doesn't justify 20g on another. I think it would be safe to assume 80% or so on this forum don't track. So why would they need top notch suspension? But power, now that is something u can use anywhere as long as you are careful and can find a stretch of clear road. Can't do that with 20g ohlins/jrz

Really?

Where can you use even the stock 414hp everyday? (safely and legally)
let alone 500hp...

I'm not saying 10k on suspension is worth it, but your statement is rather ignorant...

also, depending on which lower springs one gets, it actually hurts the handling of the car.
So you spend 10K plus on a s/c...but then hurt the handling so you get the right stance....
Not saying all lower springs do this.
And I don't think he meant that you should spend 10k on suspension, but you can get a GC kit for 1k, or a KW Sleeve kit for 1k, or up it to a KW V3 for about $2500, or KW CS for 3-4k.

Better than $200 springs

I respect what you say that a 10k suspension will be useless on the street, as it's not built for that.

But I find your comment that you spend 10k and not gain a single hp... completely ignorant.

If you want power, the M3 is the wrong car. a 2012 GTR cost the same as a E92 M3 with a G Power SKII CS kit
Which is faster?
The stock GTR.
Which handles better?
The stock GTR.
so why buy the ///M3?
Because race car
Persian,

If so, then why buy a car with more than 100hp if u can't use it? If that philosophy were true, the streets would be filled with golf diesels.

I highly doubt that anyone with a supercharger has lowering springs. At the minimum they have a gc kit or a sleeve kit from kw.

The M3 may be the wrong car for brute power. U are correct 100%. But what a good feeling it would bring when u can beat most super cars with say a stage 3 gintani kit or an ESS 650 kit? the look on their face when they lose makes the 10-20k price tag worth it, I'm sure.

To wrap up my point, I just think if person x is going to spend y amount on a car, performance should be included. Again, my opinion. People who drive a stock Powered m3 with the best suspension, best brakes, best seats, have done it all wrong IMO. Again, I'm more of a power guy so obviously I'm biased. The first major mod I do before anything else will be a blower kit.

I like the feeling of power rather than being able to say "wow look how little body roll I had on that turn!"

And don't bother saying "should've bought a c63 or something with more power. If I wanted a c63, I would've bought one.

Cheers, and merry Christmas to all

Ohlins are certainly not a bad setup at all. I had them on my old S2000. Although not the best suspension out there, definitely a top 5 setup.

Bump for an awesome setup.

we live in an age when ppl spend 10k on wheels (ADV.1 for example) yet someone can't swallow 10k price tag on Ohlins?

Ditto. On the flip side those same guys are reinstalling their OEM used tires on to their 10k wheels.

Bump for an AMAZING setup!!

Having ADV.1 and Ohlins in the same sentence is so much of an insult to these AMAZING suspension already, regardless of the price attached to em. I know PINHEAD and fruitcake are gonna be so fxxking mad at me.

Agreed.

If I was brave enough and had enough experience to properly set this up, I would be all over this.

I think you have a s/c M3 with lowering springs

and your posts seem familiar....
Wouldn't be surprised if you were a previously banned member; if I'm wrong, then excuse the incorrect misassumption.

and 100hp vs 400 is a big different. 250ish is plenty for a DD

and no I don't think it's worth the look on anyone's face when you beat them in a straight line.
Straight line racing is boring, and street racing is immature.

Curious what kind of look you would have when a modded civics beats your s/c M3.
But you won't care cuz it's just a civic right..?
When I'm in a Ferrari, I wouldn't care if a modded M3 beat me; I <3 my M but it's not an exotic, far from it.
You don't track a M3, as most people unfortunately don't; you're really missing out.

and I gotta do it:

"should've bought a c63 or a GTR"

Anyway, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, like I said this setup is great and I wish Juan luck with the sale.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However for there to be a debate you need to have a valid point.

This is not a poser set up. A proper suspension and brakes will make you faster on track than just a supercharger alone. Especially a novice. Anyone can drive fast in a straight line - throw a few turns and bends in and that is when the fun begins.

Juan - GLWS. If I planned on keeping my car longer term and didn't already have Motons - I am sure I would jump on this....who know though

I talked to my friend who had these on his porsche and he said they are great for track but for street or if some people like canyon runs.

these would be too bumpy don't know if its true of not.

maybe someone could chime on this.

I love this set up and its my favorite

What makes a suspension 'bouncy' is spring rate, not shocks. You can couple these with street spring rates but that would be a waste of talent.

A set of top quality dampers make a *huge* difference for handling - and the best stuff on Earth still has the ability to smooth out bumps - which allows you to put down the power like nothing else.

Someday, when my E90 gets its rear doors welded shut, I will look for a set like this.

And I think it's not a bad idea at all to get a $40k used E92 M3, put $10k in suspension and another $10k in brakes/wheels, loose some weight and then go bother some seriously expensive cars on track...

GLWS.
