Also the pads are extremely cheap and are a standard size.

ok if you're balling with brembos maybe you have your own trackside support and your fav shop that does everything for you. Then again you may not be tracking much or at all with brembos lol (note I said MAY NOT I do know lots of guys who picked up brembos just for show)
Well... I have done several searches, hence why I bought what I felt was best for my application; I was just hoping to learn something new.

But what you listed isn't anything new lol. Like I said, if you're balling... well you said what I was going to say.

Well - hence my counter-point - that stoptechs ARE better even if you're balling with $$$$.

By the way - I think you meant to say "new" and not k-new.

Just playing devil's advocate - just saying....

Right. So your point about Brembos being the best choice track if $ is not an issue is weak. I just made a clear point that stoptechs have a huge advantage against the brembos for true track rats.

I have the blacks and mine have gone dull & the lettering has yellowed after about 20 days at the track.

Guess you missed this sentence?
"FYI Not saying the StopTech/Trophy isn't great, just saying Brembos are great just like the other BBKs"
And I never said "Brembos being the best choice track"
Endless BBK are phenomenal from what's read, though I have - experience with them. The Brembo GTR kit is also suppose to be amazing, but again no personal experience with them.
I've only driven cars with the Brembo non-GTR kit, and a StopTech Trophy kit; never used AP either unfortunately, though I haven't really read any negative reviews on them in terms of performance.

Don't want to start an argument with you, so this will be my last post in this thread regarding this topic, but your point on why ST is better than Brembo isn't to convincing IMO.
From my understanding, you said the key advantages of ST over brembo is easier pad changes and also cheaper replacement parts, right? If I misunderstood your point, then my apologies, but this is how I interpreted your posts.
With $, one can always pay a shop do all the pads changes (so inconvenience/time consumption are no longer an 'issue'), and also increased replacement costs would be irrelevant.

If you meant something different than what I addressed above in your statement:
Quote:
I just made a clear point that stoptechs have a huge advantage against the brembos for true track rats.
Then maybe you could clarify your point.
As easier pad changes and lower replacement costs isn't a "huge" advantage over Brembos if $ is not an issue (at least that's how I see it, IMO).

For me, ST is better than Brembo for those exact 2 reasons you listed (cheaper costs, easier pad changes), so yes, for me ST has the clear advantage for someone who tracks 1-2 times per month; but I'm not balling like simonlam168

Sorry rldzhao, I didn't mean for this to get more than 2-3 posts, but I guess it got out of hand.

I was planning on doing the Trophy kit but after all this, I am having major second thoughts. Regardless of whether a "harsh" wheel cleaner was used, you would think a set of $6k+ brakes could handle more than this type of "abuse".

I'm having not even a thought... I'm getting a Brembo BBK after this thread and after two months trying to get a simple front BBK from StopTech.

Every week is another week of backorder for something different. This has been going on for the last 2 months and still they cannot get their stock back up. The least that I want is to get their kit, install it and then see rust in the bolts.

I really do not have any patience for any crappy service.

I have to agree with you there. Honestly, the only reason I am hanging onto them as a possibility is the price that I can get them for versus the Brembos.

Love my Trophy kit... no issues at all. I bought them with the understanding that I was buying a track oriented brake system that I will rebuild every off season.

For a track brake system the stoptech's are the way to go. Being able to have cheap consumables plus the ability to rebuild the calipers is a major plus.

Why not stainless? because stainless bolts will either be considerably weaker than plated alloy steel, or prohibitively more expensive for similar strength.
I was told the issue with stainless is in the application is tensile strength. Softer stainless bolts will stretch harder versions subject to breaking. Can anyone confirm or deny?

I have very similar issues. I called Stop Tech a few months back and they insisted it was bad cleaner, which my small shop detailer insists he never uses and I didn't see any in his arsenal of products. My bolts look fine but the anodizing is dulled and failing along a drip line just like the pics in these posts. I'll try calling them again to see if perhaps they can just paint them.

They still work to perfection however.

If I end up with one of their kits, I think I'll just get a powdercoated one.

Don't like hearing this. I wondered if possibly getting brake fluid on the caliper caused some of the dulling of the anodizing. Just a thought...

If they could be powdercoated easily without destroying something, I might be interested in that. Much more durable than paint!! I have seen these calipers painted on the lambo painted M3's

I didn't mean powdercoating a Trophy kit. I would just get a standard kit.

LOL....I need to learn to read!!! Sorry, haha. I am really perplexed on this brake thing. Finally settled on the Trophy setup and then read this. The reality is that I'd love some red brembos, but don't want to have to deal with repainting them, the cost of parts, and the hassle of changing pads.

Deciding wether to install my kit tomorrow or wait for all these claims to be sorted out. Really don't want this to happen.

Tough call on that one. Sounds like from the people who have the issue that Stoptech hasn't been very forthcoming on the problem.
