DIY - Subwoofer connection

Hi guys, I'm looking into adding just a single subwoofer + amp into my trunk. I have the amp already connected to the box housing the sub. I was wondering if there was a DIY available for wiring the amp to the stock radio. I have a 2011 E92 M3, but I do not have the premium entertainment/sound package.

I've tried doing some searches, but what I find is mainly for systems that have the premium entertainment package or for people simply replacing the existing subs or door speakers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

You need a special harness sold by forum member Technic
You plug it into the amp
And the plug that was In the amp, plugs on the other end
That gives you RCA out that you can plug into the amp for the sub
And keeps all the speakers powered by the amp

Ok. So a couple things:

1) With Technic's harness, all I need to do is connect the amp on the sub to the amp on the car?

2) Where would be the best place to put a ground wire in the trunk?

I may have soon a PnP harness that retains the HiFi amp when adding a trunk sub/amp to the OEM audio system. PM for details.

You do not need a special harness or anything. I tied right into the factory amp with speaker wire taps. I can't find the wiring diagram we used but it's floating around the internet. We tied the speaker wires into a line level converter and poof, you have an amp + sub tied into your factory system. Took 2+ hours and a 6-pack of beer.

Even if that works, I would still use Technic's harness. Much cleaner and nicer and only takes 5 mins to install.

Well yes you don't NEED the harness
But if you want to keep everything stock as is
Stripping wire (which happens when you use wire taps) is not really kosher
I did that on my old car, but that was before Technic made it this easy to keep it looking clean

What color wires did you tie into? How did you connect the wires to your new amp?
