  • 3 driving modes - electric, petrol, or both engines at once
  • 1,480 kg
  • 0-100kph (62mph): 4.6 seconds
  • Top speed: 250kph (limited)
  • 2.7 L/100km fuel economy

  • Live photos from Frankfurt IAA debut

BMW i3 [Official Info/Media]
  • 125kw, 250Nm
  • 0-60 kph: 3.9 seconds
  • 0-100 kph: 7.9 seconds

I was at the New York Sneak Peek Event on November 9th. Both cars look amazing. I'm thinking I'll have an i3 in my garage in 2013. The i8 is awesome, but it's going to cost around $160,000. It's not for mortals.

These are NOT supercars folks! They simply are their new hybrid line that "look" like supercars. Performance is that of any one of their current sports cars and less than their m cars

That is correct ... also I recommend to tint the windows since the German Dachshund (Dackel - Sausage Dog ... you know the one I mean) will constantly look into your window each time you stop at a stop sign or traffic light.

The i8 goes 0-60 in about 4.3 seconds. Listen to Rich Steinberg(manager of BMW electric vehicles & strategy) in the video say it will do in in "well under 5 seconds" The i3 isn't a supercar like the i8, nobody said it was.

They haven't released pricing, only said it would cost less than a base 5 series.
Guesses have it between 40 and 43k. Then there is a $7,500 federal tax credit so final cost could be somewhere around 33 & 36K

To be able to take these concepts and turn them into production in such a short time frame will be really incredible for BMW.
