We run rain or shine. Again, Willow receives very little rain. At our last event it expected 80% and we got a light drizzle in the morning and right before we left. It was dry almost the entire day.

Plus, SOW is fun in the rain especially with our drift clinic

I've experienced heavy rain there, but that doesn't mean it's not fun

Drifting+rain=more fun!

Good to know. I guess I just have to decide if I want my first day out to be in the rain.... More chance of going OT and more chance of ripping my front bumper off! lol

Why would you rip your bumper off?

My first track day was at HTM in the pouring rain, with a stock z4 on runflats

it was really fun.

and when I went to button in Nov, it was pouring rain. I was on my RS3s that have 140 threadwear...and they are not designed for the pouring rain with puddles everywhere...
But in the rain is when you get to really learn the line and become a smooth driver.

Slow in, fast out... you learn this better when it's raining cause...if you do fast in... you prly won't make it out..

Just keep your traction control on and you will be fine. It saved me about 8 times at Buttonwillow when it was raining. I was in the beginner group with 16 cars and 10 out of the 16 cars went off track in the first session. I was part of the 6 that stayed on mostly thanks to BMW's traction control lol.

The way my splitter is attached to my bumper, if I went off and the splitter dug into the ground at all, surly part or all of the bumper would come off...

Then don't go off. I don't see why you're worried... as long as you do slow in, don't get cocky, don't get arrogant, keep traction on, you'll be fine.

If they have professional instruction as this event, take advantage of it.

When my brakes gave out and I went off at Big willow (which is worse than streets), my revinora lip was torn to shreds, but my bumper was only mildly damaged. yes damaged, but not too bad.

If you keep thinking that you'll go off, you won't have fun.

Being on the track IMO is safer than driving on the street, in terms of chances of having an accident..

Yea, Im not really worried about going off, dry or wet. It can happen, but I don't think it will.

For me its more about will it still be as fun with traction on windows up in the rain with nowhere to hang out in between time. I get that it prob woulden't rain all day.

I resent this. I like Street of Willow in the same way that masochists like pain.

His splitter was made by him, probably some type of custom mounting raises the dangers. Revinora uses OEM mount holes right?

Might keep him alive though.

This 100%.

In the end, you're not out to set lap records first time out. IMO first timers shouldn't even get timing, and just focus on how the car feels. If the car feels like it's doing what they want it to do at the end of the day, then they're probably doing something right. If they're still fighting the car, well, time to do a few more events and learn some more.

Some organizations require windows to be down, rain or shine. Not sure about this one.

It's not as fun as dry, but it's a better learning experience IMO

Yes and no. I had 8 spots drilled into my bumper to hold it up. lol

I never got timing at the beginning and I regret it

I want to know how much I improved

so I say..get timing but don't check it until the end of the day

Not first timer...its been about a year, but I have done many events and such before that. Should have clarified that.

I will be there with some of my buddies from my 350Z days. I won't be tracking my car this time because I don't have the balls yet lol, but hopefully I'll get a chance to meet some of you guys!
