that looks exactly like the stock filter with an AA plaque and the AA metal "nipple" thing. Did they really sell ones like that?

Well it says AA on it. Apparently that's what AA did before they went with the new green filters they have now. It's going in the trash now

It looks like a modified OEM Euro filter (without charcoal) made to fit the the 2008 US cars. Probably does add some power and air flow over OEM.
