You are correct, but the Vbox in most cases will read higher traps, usally 1-2mph, because it measures the trap speed at 1320', not the average speed between two different spots as you explained correctly. Some tracks around the world measure traps this way as well, and will show higher traps than US NHRA tracks. Having said that u can use the vbox to measure the trap speed just as they do, with the proper calculations, at NHRA tracks, maybe that is what you are referring too?

Cage is required for NHRA tracks 11.5 and under. Atco is an IHRA track and requires cage at 130 trap.

Yup, should be fun. Was in the Bay Area for the holidays. Yesterday I decided to take a drive to Sacramento. Drove 1000 miles this weekend! Very poor track prep though, No VHT. 11.58 on a 1.85 60' time, 91 octane on my NT555Rs, daily driving setup as I run on the street.

Good numbers, I give you a lot of credit for actually having the balls to run 1/4 mile to actually prove what the cars does as well.......Most people on here dyno and talk shit....Good to see somebody doing it in the real world.

With that being said only 3 things that I could criticize (jokingly though:
1.) How in the hell does a M3 owner with 15-20k+ in mods not have the smarts to invest in 18" wheels with DR's for 1/4 mile track time? I mean besides cutting times down crazy, you run a significant risk of putting that beautiful monster into a wall by breaking tires with big wheels. Dragging for ET's on 19's and 20's is the dumbest thing you The M3 is designed for road racing, I appreciate you testing it out and all, but hopefully you will put it to good use on the track and road race that thing.
3.) DCT? that is terrible.....6mt for this mighty machine!!!!!

All in all, great work.......congrats on the MPH that is sick. FOOD FOR THOUGHT THOUGH: ESS=arm and a leg, M3= arm and a leg. If I were doing the whole "time attack" purpose built car, the GTR would trump this stock and now with the market being flooded with used ones, a whole lot cheaper. It isnt a BMW, but you get my point.

I dont get your point. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but understand your facts first. I've owned my DCT for 2months (4 weeks with the ESS Blower) so I havent had the time to get the DR's mounted. Previous car was E90 M3 6mt. In fact, all my cars have been manuals but times are changing. Are you aware that BMW doesn't want to build manual transmissions since the DCT. Only Americans want them.

1. I understand the risk of running street tires on the strip but honestly there is a significantly higher risk of crashing on the street accelerating 0 -100mph. Drag strips have a lot more grip! I'm a father of two boys and choose to do it at the track. With that said, I was launching easy and did use MDM for traction control so there was more to be had in the acceleration. I understand running DR's will give me better times and will be running them in the spring since the car is done for the winter.

2. Why 6mt for this "mighty machine"? Because its a drivers car?? What about Lambo's, Ferrari's and some of the Porsches? The whole DCT vs 6mt arguement is retarted! Drive what you prefer. I think the fun factor is much higher on a DCT but thats my opinion. Understand this, go against a DCT car and you will loose everytime at the drag strip. On a road coarse its mostly driver. M33 is a good friend of mine and he has AT LEAST another 100whp. I beat him everytime that day. From a 60mph+ roll he would slaughter me.

3. Your GTR comments....I just dont understand. Your right, our cars stock will loose to a stock GTR. Who cares about stock on this forum. We are a bunch of mod addicted lunatics! I could afford one but chose the M for my own reasons. Yeah its cheaper to mod the GTR and get crazy power but I've seen a ESS vt2 625 w/ DCT beat modded GTR's. BTW- a stock GTR (pre-2012)will not beat my car at the strip. Raced one and he lost! 1/4 times in the magazines are not real world for most drivers.

I'm not sure what you drive but if its a E9x M3 6mt...I love challenges!

Be sure to get some wheels/tires for NJMP next season. We shook up a bunch of people with our DCT SC E92 with a low budget suspension, R888s, stock bars and Brembo street pads. We have 8 private rental days booked...schools etc. 2012 will be the year of the SC E92 M3s
