Motorsport 24 is developing new S65 headers!

German racing component manufacturer Motorsport 24 is in the middle of reinventing the wheel with their newly developed headers for the S65. After a year of research, the M24 team is confident that they have improved upon the already stellar original BMW design. While these headers are still in the middle of optimization and development, initial testing has shown an increase in power as well as a substantial reduction in exhaust gas temperatures.

M24 will be releasing a direct-fit road car version of these headers, meant to fit on any street exhaust system, as well as a true racing version for S65 V8 engines. IND is M24's North American distributor, and we all felt very fortunate to see preview photos of these early prototypes. Please stay tuned for updates!

Can these be installed without lifting (or lowering) the engine? I have't looked with the mind to change the headers but there isn't a ton of room there.

I think the gains would be rather minimal. The original ones are already tubular

sex...but from what I understand there are minimal gains to be had with aftermarket headers for the s65. I sure hope these aren't the case, I would love to see more power produced out of the s65 NA or even FI.

I am definitely looking forward to seeing the results of these. It looks like they are going with a bigger diameter, yet similar layout as the OEM piping.

Is one the "Race" version and the other a "Street" version with a flange?

+1 also, has anyone tested a long tube header setup on the s65?

You guys are making it hard for me to restrain myself...... I have been good for the last year but I may have to break down and get a set of these. I bet they will sound awesome with the larger primaries.

Could someone explain who something like this would provide any power gains given the OEM headers are already catless (meaning cats not part of the headers like e46) and already very good design. What is there to improve on? Flow of exhaust or sound or what? These look very similar to OEM

Most likely the primary diameter and the merge collector are the where there is room for gain. If they did some good R&D (which I assume they did and are still doing) then they could see where and how much room for improvement there was in the factory header. If they nailed the design then an increase in scavenging and flow could be achieved which would relate to power gains.

Any reason why stepped headers would not be a good choice on a low torque V8 like the S65? The Supersprint stepped headers worked great on the low torque high revving inline six S54:

My understanding is that the stepped design allowed strong high end gains, at no expense of losing low end power/torque. By going with larger primaries throughout, I believe it is optimal for primarily high end power with potentially some expense or no gain on the lower end. If you look at the Z4GTR that utilizes the P54B32, even that doesn't have stepped headers for the sake using the most ideal primary diameter for high end gain.

Maybe M24s primary goal was to achieve the highest top end power they could with their design. I'd also love to hear their thought process though.

Why do you wanna know? You clearly don't like modding, in fact, pretty much every post you place is questioning either power gains, or any real benefit of *any* mod out there - be it exhausts, intakes, etc... It feels like you have to reassure yourself that you shouldn't spend any money on it. Just don't be too angry about it... it's not good for you. Modding is not for you, so just move on, dude.
