Just picked up my Sept build MY2012 with ZCP today. I also have Contis. Car does drive and feel great, however. I'll probably switch to PSS when the tires need to be replaced.

Probably means mine will be on the Conti's too. Sucky if you I ask me. The PSS are awesome. Got them on my MINI.

Same here - my '12 came with Conti's and I hate them! Only good thing is it's time to put winter tires on the car so I'll worry about buying new summer tires right before spring time.

Well SamS has an October build
And he has ZCP and he got ps2s
So I guess it might be either
I'm selling my ZCPs anyway as is
Putting on my winters
And when spring comes, will buy PSS in 255/35 18 front, and 275/35 18 rear to mount on my Apex Arc8s

Yep, it looks like it's 50-50 on which brand of tires you'll get. I actually have a set of aftermarket wheels I can use on the car, if needed, so otherbthan getting tires I didn't want, it's not that big of a deal. Good luck with your tires even if you are getting rid of them (PS2s should make selling them a little easier)!

My car came with Contis too. What's wrong with the Contis? PS2s are slightly more expensive, but the reviews on tirerack are pretty close, PS2s have a .5 higher rating on a scale of 1 to 10. I'm willing to spend a little more if there's a distinct advantage one set over the other. Can people elaborate? Thnx

Personally, I put little faith in TireRack's rating system. The Conti's do not have the same level of ultimate grip and are more susceptible to hydroplaning, at least with my experience. I think a good gage of a street tire's true performance is which street tires are used by competitors in the One Lap because they run on road courses, drap strips, autox courses, and wet and dry skid pads. Most of the top teams run the PS2 and I believe it holds the dry and wet skid pad max g - around 1.0 in the wet!

Also, Hoosier makes the race slicks that are labeled as Conti's in the Grand AM Conti Sports Car Challenge so they don't even make their own race tires.

When I was doing my car shopping it seemed that all the cars equipped with 18's had Michelins and those with 19's all had Contis

Good stuff! I still have a lot of miles to go before I have to change them. I'll keep digging. Thnx!

That's a very good tire

Looks like PW36 got Conti's?

It sure would be nice if you could "check" the brand of tire like other options.

Looks like across the board, it's a toss up for the 19's if you get Conti's vs. PS2's, or the rare car that gets Pirelli's. Hopefully BMW won't go crazy and will stick with the PS2's for my standard 18's

Unless you are a track monster with experience you will not notice the difference. Actually I have found since I have had both that the conti's actually "felt" a bit nicer as far as turn-in. I have PSS now and to be really honest I actually do not thinkt hey feel as good and have noticecd no loss in grip but then again I probably have never pushed the thing to the limit of where I would notice.

Its more "in your head" for most v. the real difference unless you are looking at 1/10's of seconds on a track. Conti's IMO feel better so if you are not the track monkey I think you should be pleasently surprised at the difference in favor of the conti's.

Conti's won me over with their DWS on a past non-m car. For an all-season tire they worked like a charm in winter and summer, snow and rain and offered great grip. Conti's of the past were subpar in many segments but I think they make a quality competitive product now.

For what it's worth, my M3 came with Conti's and I loved them! when they wore out i switched them out to PS2's I liked the Conti's more because I felt they were more predictable and lost their grip very gradually. The PS2 might have had more grip, but when they lost it, it was more unpredictable. Now I am running PS2's up front with PSS in the back.

It's certainly not in my "head" and I can "feel" the difference and, IMHO, Contis are total crap. Perhaps if you pushed your car a little harder you'd notice the performance limitations of the Contis and perhaps a difference in performance/feel of the PSS. I doubt there's a difference in feel if you are driving at only 1/10 of the tire's capability
