My 1st BMW ED - 2011 E90 ///M3 SG ZCP - all options, except premium sound

Hello M3 Community...

My 1st post here! Been lurking (daily) around this forum for a good two months straight since moving from Japan to Germany and have learned A LOT about the current E9X M3 from most of you on this board. How did I get here?...

One memory in particular stood out...I was driving in traffic (on the left side of the road) in Tokyo a few years back and I noticed a white car pulling up a few cars behind in my rear view. I think what initially caught my eye were the daytime running headlights looking like eyeballs. It looked aggressive from the front, but I couldn't tell exactly what type of vehicle it was, so I intentionally slowed down in my lane to let it catch up a bit. After holding up traffic and some coaxing, it pulled side by side with me and I my jaw dropped...power dome, black cf roof, staggered wheels, side vent...wtf is this freakin beautiful machine? After a few seconds of my gawking, its lane was moving faster and it pulled ahead of me...I see the quad exhaust, BMW logo, and ///M3. One thought...one day I will own that car, period.

A bit of background...I love rear wheel drive cars. My first was a '91 Nissan 240 SX Coupe 5MT...bare bones and I drove it in California, Alaska, Maryland, and New Mexico (went cross-country twice). Also, for five years (2006-2011) in Japan my DD was a '95 White Nissan Skyline R33 GTS-25t and it was a car I wanted to own since it was easily attainable in Japan versus any other country. And of course the exclusiveness of the Skyline's was an added bonus...hey, when in Japan, mix in with the locals, so why not My fav at the time was the R34 GT-R, but I was satisfied with my R33.

Well fast forward a few years and after returning home (Japan) from Iraq in May of 2010, I was told within a few weeks that I received an new assignment to Germany...my first choice, and that I would be moving in August 2011. As you can imagine, after more than a year wait, there was ample amount of time to plan for the next vehicle...and I focused on the X5 M Sport and M3. Throughout the year, I anally researched my options and decided the best route would be to go through Pentagon Car Sales, but I wanted to test drive first. I sold the Skyline (didn't want to deal with maintenance issues bring it to Germany) and moved on.

Arrived here the end of August, and within a few days I visited Pentagon Car Sales and met my SA Mathias "Matt". Let me just say, he is a great person, and one hellava M3 specialist...walking me through all the ins and outs of the M3. Knowledgeable and courteous...I recommend him for any one looking to purchase a BMW...especially a M3. A week later, on our second visit, we arrange a test drive of a X5 xDrive48i and E90 M3 6MT. First, X5...nice, sporty and luxurious, good power...plenty of room. My wife and I drove around for a good 20 mins...I liked it, she loved it, but it wasn't exciting...typical SUV. We have two kids, so an SUV was a consideration.

Next, the M3...Mathias started off driving, me in the passenger, wife in the back. Immediately I notice the deep, throaty sound coming from the V-8. You can never get tired of that resonating sound...who needs premium sound anyways? It's raining...and Mathias starts off on the Autobahn speeding up to 130 mph, then on to side country roads. Showing the stability control on wet pavement, kicking the rear end out a bit, and finally a 90 mph 2-mile wet episode down a narrow, twisty back-country road...Matt calls it his "test track". My wife almost pissed in her pants. Well, he pulls over and we switch positions and I drive a bit (way more conservative) back to the dealership hitting up the same roads (only 105 mph on the Autobhan). Didn't want to kill anyone including myself the first time I drove a M3.

So we get back, my wife gets out of the M3 and the first thing she says, "That was fun!" We sit down and start discussions about which model to choose, pricing, delivery times, discounts, etc...but end up determining that we need more time to decide (although my mind was made up). Mathias then beings up that the window to purchase an E90 M3 Sedan is closing quickly (weeks) and this is the last year for the NA V-8...at first I though he was BSing me, but after a quick search on m3post, DAMN. We have to move faster than expected if we want a E90 M3. After careful negotiations with the Wifey (my boss...lol), we agreed we need a 4 door vs a 2 door (sorry no Coupe), we could pick up an X5 later when we leave Germany, the fact this is the last NA V8 E90 M3 and I work hard for a living...I deserve it. Fast forward...2 months later, picked her up Friday afternoon, here she is (still have to name her). Glad be a member of the club...let the mods begin.
