Seems Like Many Nice M3s Getting Dumped These Days-Why?

Looking on the classified section, there seems to be many nice M3s for sale all of a sudden. Why?

I sold mine recently too (my second E92 M3) to improve my personal finances, but in all honesty I never did feel attached to this car like I did my beloved E46 M3. Anyone feel this way too?

I was thinking the same thing the other day. Seems like a lot of cars are for sale right now. Economy maybe?

I'm just looking out for my health at the moment. If my knee doesn't permit me driving my car for the time being, I'll skip..I got plenty of time to jump back in. I don't see a point in my jumping into a DCT M3 for the sake of continuing. I'd make the next logical step up when all is well. I think most of the other guys selling(in Canada) are looking to upgrade. But I love my car, I really don't want to see it go.

Not in my case... to some extent people who buy cars like this just like to change things up.

I find it kind of odd how people are getting rid of them. I've had my car for just over a year, and its only been in the last few months where i've started really enjoying this car. I used to think about getting a 911GTS, but now, I can't think of any car i'd rather have (at least for the next couple years). I can't see myself trading it in when it comes time either.

It's probably safe to say a majority of the members here do not track their car. It's the place where I really fell in love with my car. As a daily driver, yes - it's nice, but it's not to say the very least "fun." This is definitely a where practicality meets fun, but in the end a compromise of both.

A lot of M3's were sold 3 years ago in the fall with the very strong retail programs that BMW had at the time due to the oversupply at the time.I am on my second E92 M3 which happened on the 3 year cycle which is a very long time for myself in my normal ownership cycle. The change to the 11 with the improved electronics, suspension, and upgrading the brakes from day 1 and having the m-dct really made my 11 a much better car than my 08 for my usage which includes at least 15 trackdays a year.I already have itchy feet to get something else but realisticly this one will probally be mine for another 2 years or till an unreal deal on a GT3 happens.

I don't have any intentions of ditching my M3, but that M5 is giving me some doubts....

I imagine many are in over their heads financially, and just don't want to admit it for some reason..

Hard to imagine anything else happening when cars are being dumped shortly after or even before break-in. It's barely enough time to get to know a car and learn the ins and outs of its handling characteristics.

There are a few guys who are dropping their 08s to jump into 2011-2012s, It is really a mixed bag, you may want to look at the locations to see if you can establish a correlation.

I think some people are just one and done with the M3 (keeper), while others are 'on to the next one' or next hot car.

I myself, have an incredibly bad habit of buying a car, keeping it for a year and jumping into something better and faster, I really need to get out of that and keep my M3 for at least 3-4 years.

I just took delivery of mine today and I highly doubt that I will be selling any time soon.

From reading some of the posts here and on the classifieds, it seems to me a few people are just bored with this M3 very quickly. Truth be told, it happened to me as well.
I'm not sure if it's because of the low end torque as a dd (which I never did get use to) or its overall GT-like nature of the car but for me it lacked that "special" feeling very quickly and not worth its money as just another dd since I don't track.

I would say a majority had to do with the 3 year leases coming to an end as mentioned above. Although, it seems like things are about to get a little tight in Canada:

I think the OP is referring to the numerous 2011 and 2010 M3s for sale, not 2008 lease returns.

I dumped mine for a 911 turbo which is why I haven't been on this forum for while. It was a great car and will be missed. The porsche is an absolute animal. The M3 doesn't compare.

What do you expect at twice the cost!Have you managed to annoy the members on the Porsche forums yet?How did that supercharger work out for you on the M?

Found a great opportunity for the 911 and was fortunate enough to find a buyer for my M3. They paid me top dollar because the super charger, but I had to drive it across Canada. Either way, I will still miss my M3, but it merely a stepping stone to superior German engineering. I really love the lower centre of gravity and it feels so light on it's feet. You can take corners at any speed and it feels like it's on rails. I will post pics shortly.
