currently i am thinking of

1. 2010 GTR
2. Lotus Exige S260
Both of those cars are going to replaced with a new generation soon as well, probably by the time the next M3 arrives.

yeap, but i have no problem with that... apparently the OP is thinking of waiting for the next one... i say get what you can right now. Unless he can wait another 2-3years for the next model... and i cant. i was commeting on some here that this is the best last V8 m3? for me its just an engine if the new one is better which always have been id replace mine in a heart beat.

the only reason why im replacing it with a 2010 GTR or Lotus Exige cause im bored with the M3... this is the 1st what i felt like this on a car... specially my dream car...

when the next generation comes out, they will already be developing the subsequent generation...its like electronics..by the time u take possession, its already old...as reflected in the price depreciation hit...unless you have deep pockets or like to waste money, then get it now, if u like it...theres always gonna be a better or newer faster bmw M3..its not DeLorean, where the latest model is the ONLY model..

Ok, apparently I misundestood your prior comment:

"but yes its a little too late to get the m3"

I guess I am confused by it now. But its ok - I agree that everyone should just get what they want and when they want it. Waiting around for the next best thing will only leave you unhappy with what you have (or could have) now.

It'll be a 6 cylinder turbocharged motor for sure.

The engine configuration is still unknown. Prevailing opinion has switched back and forth between I6 and V6 over the past couple years, with the latter currently clocking in with the most backing right now it seems.

I can see no way it will be a straight 6. A Turbo V6 for sure

What do you think I should do?
The best experience you could have is taking delivery of the magnificent E92 M3 with the brilliant S65 V8, buy now and enjoy and you will never wonder what it would be like to own a mere six, and it has the best build in sound system you have ever heard without ever switching on the radio :-)
He who hesitates will be 2 cylinders short of a motor

Buy now! I wouldn't want the next gen M3 until at least 3 yrs. into production anyway...bugs and improvements you know.

For all we know the OP might hate having to rev the engine to get power. Seems like your average driver would much prefer usable power at cruising RPMs. Obviously those that appreciate high revving N/A cars will say get the E92 now, but I wouldn't be surprised if the OP (and most people) would much prefer the upcoming turbo setup.

Have any of you seen iRobot? The futuristic movie with Will Smith?

There is a point in the movie where he gets on a motorcycle. The lady riding with him is so astonished that it runs on a gasoline engine.

This is where the future is going...the age of the roaring engine is coming to an end. By 2020, there will be only a small handful of V8 engines still being produced..period.

The new M3 will be sweet, as the new M3 always is...but honestly from what they did going E60 5 series ----> F10 5 Series, I am not sure the new 3 is going to be as athletic as the current one.

My 2 cents
