Before I purchased my e92 I test drove an e90. I could not stand the b pillar. I felt it was restricting my peripheral vision. Sounds stupid but that was my impression at the time.

Anybody else notice? Btw I was coming from e46 m3 so I was used to a coupe I guess.

I've said this before, and also read it before. But you really, really have to even know what you're looking for to even notice a difference.

So for every day purposes, no, you probably won't notice anything different, unless you're really gettin' on it.
Oddly enough I would agree 100%, thats what I felt going from E92 to E90... Could be a placebo effect though

yea, my 335i is a e90 and i have long legs so i have to push the seat all the way back, well, to sit comfortably, that is...the downside is when i look left to check my blind, i get nothing but pillar..even on my 535 i get this issue too but not nearly as bad as the 335 since it is a longer car...the e92 pillar being farther back is very luxurious.

I've driven both and could not tell the diff... besides the fact that I had to get off the car to let a buddy of mine get in the back.
E90 is an awesome DD, especially if you have a family.

also with the e90 you can put fixed back seats in and still get people easily in the back

I have and love my E90. Agree on the B pillar, and I'm not tall (only 5'10"). It does create a bit of a blind spot at first, but you can adjust your mirror accordingly. I love having 4 doors, and I perfer the look of the E90 to the E92. If I had the opportunity, I'd get an E90 and E92, one in 6MT, one DCT. But alas, I have just one (E90 6MT).

The h point on the sedan is a bit higher, and headroom is less, especially with a sunroof. So if you're going to track it, take a helmet with you and see if you have enough clearance in the E90. Otherwise, once behind the wheel, you quickly forget you have two doors back there.

I've test driven two coupes (MT and DCT) and put an order in on a sedan with no test drives.

My first time driving a sedan will be as I leave the Munich Factory in November.

Good to hear the performance difference is minimal b/w the two.

I second the comment about having one of each and a DCT and 6MT. That being said I like the looks of the sedan far better. Headroom is an issue at the track. Once I have my helmet on I can't sit in the position I would like because of room and am forced to recline slightly.

No performance different, e92 looks way hotter imo.

I've driven both, but only owned the sedan. (an '08 and now a 2011)
I significantly prefer the look of the sedan's proportions.

I can see no fact-based reason to give up the practicality inherent to the 4 door.
As a parent, I had no real choice anyway.

In fact, the too-long doors, frameless windows and fiddly seatbelt assistant are really annoying to me.

Performance wise (as many others stated) I see no difference. Pick the one you feel is right for you and that will fill your daily needs.

For example as you know if it will be your daily driver and you have a family then the sedan is the answer. If it is your second car and your toy then get the coupe.

I have BOTH, and there is not a HUGE difference between the two. Although, the driving dynamics are different, probably because my coupe is a 6MT and the Sedan is an M-DCT.

Get what you like better and don't worry about any performance difference because it is irrelevant if there at all.

I actually like the sedan except for the hideous bug eye tail lights . If the sedan's rear end looked as nice as the coupe's I would be inclined to own one but that is completely personal preference.

Coupe owners refer to their beauty.
Sedan owners refer to proportions and functionality.

With performance almost the same, sedans have more to offer.

Blind spot?! NO!!!

Guys- there is no blind spot because you should NOT look to the side before change of lane. Side view mirrors should be splayed out so there is no blind spot. You do not need to see your door handles or the air space anywhere near it in your side view mirrors as anything that is anywhere near the size of a car will be quite visible to the outside edge of the space not covered by the mirrors when in the recommended position. Of course anything to the inside of the uncovered area would be inside of your car!

This was in Car and Driver about a year ago- it DID feel weird at first and I had to reassure myself of the logic and now I never have to turn my head. You can test this by turning the mirror out when you are parked until the point that a passing car disappears from the side view mirror at the same instant it appears in your front side window-when there is no temporal gap there is no blind spot.

Its all a matter of personal preferance. What do YOU want to drive. It basically comes down to if you either want a 2 or a 4 door. Everyone here will obviously justify their particular choiceof purchase. E90 owners will say how great and practical it is, coupe guys will say the like the less bulky proilfe.
I personally Love the more aerodymanic look of the coupe.

I rarely have a passenger but prefer the look of the sedan and it costs $2k less but why would anyone care what anyone else prefers?

E90s are not real M3s, otherwise it would have a M3 stamp under the hood.
