Vibrating 6MT shifter on startup

on my 6MT at 500 miles already,
when I start the engine 2 times out of ten I would say,
I hear a relatively loud engine and the
shifter is going left and right (about 5-6 inches latitude !)

if I touch the knob I can see it visually going left and right!

if I restart the engine or push the clutch down a couple of times
it goes away...

anyone else had this? is it maybe part of the break in process?

8 out of 10 times when I wake up in the morning i have the same problem. My wife wishes she could just step on the clutch a few times to make it go away.

So you think its normal then...?
ever talk to service about tit?

the vibration I am referring to is not the usual vibe you get
on an angry engine with 6MT...
it has a latitude about 5-6 inches!
it looks like a ghost is shifting ...

Not normal. Go to dealership. Get fixed.

I'm always surprised that when weird stuff happens mechanically, people live with it and go to the boards for advice. If I saw my shifter do that ONCE, I'd be at the dealership immediately to get it addressed. Letting stuff like that go on can make matters worse.

Get your car into the shop. Vibration is natural but 5" is too much. I'd like to think the additional vibration is coming from the cat warmers that shut off after you depress the clutch sometimes.. but it should not move that much...
