2015 Navigation map update with USB stick

I have been getting alot of inquiries from people that own 2009 MY (model year) asking if their car is eligible for this usb stick upgrade. It is really easy to tell if your navigation system firmware has been updated to allow for the update using the USB stick, so I thought to post in the general discussion thread to let people know about their firmware of their cic navigation unit

*****Model years 2010 till present 2013 have no issues at all with using the USB stick as your firmware on CIC headunit is up to date!!******

Take a look at these two pictures...Notice the round circle on the bottom left hand corner. If your unit has the little check mark on the round black circle(pic #1) then its good to go with the usb stick in glovebox update for 2014 maps. If your unit doesnt have the check mark and is a black circle only, (pic #2) then the only way to update is using the 3 DVD disk method, or goto the dealer and get your navigation CIC headunit updated to the newer firmware to allow the usb to recognize the usb map update stick. The usb stick update located in the glovebox takes about 45 minutes as suppose to the 3 DVD disk which takes about 3 hours. Both will require the FSC activation code..

I dont sell the usb stick. I will give you a link to download the navigation data which you transfer the data into a 32 gb USB stick that you have to buy. I will obtain the FSC activation code for you..

My car is from September 2010 and couldn't update via glovebox before performing a firmware update.

Before the firmware update my map was blocked on updating and after searching forums I found I was far from being the only one with the problem.

So please beware before updating. 2010 CIC is no guarantee that you won't need an update.

That is true to some extent but very rare in most cases. Out of 100 maybe there is like 1 that it happens to...But for the price of admission its worth to take the chance IMO.

I received my car in August. New map update came out September. BMW says: that'll be $250 please. So much for the $2k out of date "navigation system"

Map updates can be obtained for free via torrent, the FSC code can be obtained for $40-50 from several sources (searchable on this forum).

I updated my map through Baccus and couldn't be happier with how easy and inexpensive it is compared to going to the dealer.

He sent me the link to download the files and sent me the FSC in a follow up email. Quick, easy, and painless. Highly recommend

Most defiantly a charge but at a much more discounted price than the dealer.

If anyone in SoCal near the 909 area wants to update their 2010+ I will loan you my 2014 OEM USB stick at my place for $15.00. This will save you the hassle of downloading this for a one time use. Update process takes between 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete. You will still need to purchase the FSC code here.

Thats awesome to do that! Thanks as that would definitely cut the cost down even further for anyone looking to update their maps to 2014

Thanks! I kind of figured that it would save someone the hassel of downloading the files and saving them on the a USB stick that they may need to purchase seperatly. Downloading could take hours if not days depending on how busy the server is. I would also like to recoupe some of my cost on the USB stick if at all possible.

FSC code needs to be purchased here guys/gals.

You contact Baccus@AMS on this thread and he will give you instructions. Basically you will pay him a set fee and provide him with the last 6 or 7 digits of your VIN. After he has that information he will email you back with the FSC code.

Pretty easy and the money saved is well worth it!
