State Farm replacement bumber
Somebody hit me and the bumper cover is getting replaced. State Farm will only pay for a 'reconditioned' bumper cover, which I assume will come from a wreck. Anyone have a similar deal and got a 'reconditioned' body part? If so, how did it turn out?

That's BS! I would fight that and force them to install only a new OEM bumper
![]() If that doesn't work find out from the body shop how much they are paying for the reconditioned bumper and then pay the difference for a new bumper. I think a new pre-primed OEM bumper is < $500 from Tischer (getbmwparts.com) and it should only cost $200-300 to paint so total for a new painted bumper < $1k. |

The general order for insurance is:
1. Repair it 2. Replace with 3rd party (if available) 3. Replace with used (swap 2 & 3 if 3 is cheaper) 4. Replace with new They will get you back to how you were before. So if they do (1) and it doesn't look right, they'll move up to the next step until you were are you were before. So if you're stuck, just let them repair it then point out all the flaws that you see. Waste of time, but you gotta play the game if you want to win! |
