cancelled M5 order back to M3

finally gut feelings prevailed. i cancelled my M5 f10 order. surely the M5 is the technologically superior drive but it is big as a medium size boat and i never got to like the style factor. surely i would like a head-up display but i still prefer the M3 coupe without it.

I think what changed my tune about it is the farting noises heard in the videos during deceleration.
I hope they change that before production

Good choice. F10 m5 is going to fail. Unremarkable performance (can get close to same power by chipping a 550i). At 4,250lbs it is untrackable. If you need space for the family, buy a X5M. Looks like a Taurus to me

I doubt any M vehicle will ever truly fail. Most buyers, not being enthusiasts, are more interested in the badge and prestige and the torquey feel than performance.

You still believe those power figures? I don't. With dual twin scroll turbos, higher compression and stronger internals, I am sure the M5 will be the beast we (most of us) expect it to be. Going around the 'ring at 7:55 in a car that heavy is a feat in itself. E39 owners hated the E60 M5 for being too heavy and too complicated, but it was a massive success. Funny how you think it will fail without any official reviews, without driving it yourself/seeing it yourself.

Advantage!

I suppose the biggest advantage is your saving about $30K, as the F10 M5 is signifigantly more expensive than an E9X M3!

I definitely do not buy cars like those people. I'm an enthusiast and buy cars because I enjoy driving them. I could care less if it is made by Hyundai or Ferrari as long as it's good.

Did the same thing today. Just ordered my next M3 1 hour ago. Made the right decision ,for me. If I didn't have the 750li H might have got the M5.

I'm #1 up for an M5 at my dealer and things like the HUD do appeal (had it on my 545i and 550i) but the styling is a bit luke warm to me, it can't be any less of a boat than the E60 M5 (compared to an M3), and the exhaust sound? WTF!

Sure it's faster, better, etc. But is it really? In my mind and the minds of others perhaps but not on the street in any sensible manner and not on the track except on an open road course.

On the other hand it would be a daily driver and all the technology would be fun so...

Well, there's the price...

Maybe I should keep my M3...

Or maybe I should get a Laguna Seca Ford Mustang Boss 302 and a Fiesta for a daily driver?

You'll have plenty of time to enjoy the turbocharged Ms in the future
The M3 is your last chance to experience the NA variety
Plus if you don't like it you can always get the M5 later
But if you get the M5 now
You won't have time to get the M3 before it goes out of production

It is ridiculous and utter bogus nonsense when some one comes on here and claims that M5 will fail. All this with out ever driving it or having any reviews to back up their claims.

I think many do not realize that their beloved E90/E92 M3 is a bloated pig when compared with the E36 M3.

Every time a new M car comes we go through these same dance. The previous M owners claims nahha......"The new one will be a fail"......yeah right....few years down the line......we will probably find you driving the same fail M car. All the while praising its virtues of practicality and performance......gimme a break.

You could make the same argument between a chipped 335i and a M3. Yet I see you're driving a M3 and not a modded 335i.
