An ounce of gold is about $1800 right now, you got like 8 ounces in that photo.

You're probably right
But it's also a piece of automotive audio history
Which is worth a lot more

it's a Soundstream Davinci 7 channel car amplifier
it's an old school amp, but probably one of the best amps ever made.

there is a picture, but if you are browsing from work, some firewalls block access to pictures posted on consumer level connections.

here is another pic of a similar amplifier

Soundstream

Ahhh, I remember some great Soundstream products from way back, including the only pure class A automotive amplifier I've seen. Some really nice head units as well. (we're talking late 80's at this point though.) Very nice!

Very cool. I ran old school Soundstream back in the day with the Granite series and the original Reference series. They just don't make amps like that anymore. I am curious on where you plan to put that beast though.

you give me too much credit
you think i have thought all this through?
all i know is i want to use it
if i can or can't didn't cross my mind yet

i also have an A/D/S PH15 6 channel amp as my backup option
will use that to power fronts, center, and the rear side panels and parcel shelf in parallel (5 channels used only)
and a XD700/5
bridge the 4 channels for 200x2 at 4ohm for the SWS-8s
and the remaining sub channel for a trunk mount sub
i like that setup
Class A/B for main speakers, and since the EPS is 4ohm, they wont run hot
and Class D for sub duty
i'm hoping to put the A/D/S where the OEM amp is, even if i have to get the changer trim for it. and the Xd700 where the sat radio module used to be on the rear bottom of the trunk

the reference series are damn fine amps
i have used most of them
ref 200, 300, 500, 700, 1000, 644, 404, 414
i have a collection right now, that i really should sell
i have 2x MC300, that's even older than the reference
and i believe the models that gave them their name

I still have a Reference 405 I bought new back in the day. I was think about giving it away if someone wanted to use it, but it's a got a bad channel no. 4, and I've been too lazy to fix it. Maybe I'll just hang it on the garage wall for the memories.

^You could probably get about a $100 for that old 405 on ebay if you want to bother as there are some listed for $200.

Was looking to get rid of some old zapco amps and was a bit surprised at the prices listed on ebay.

i've repaired a few soundstreams

I would use them, but car audio isn't too much of an interest for me these days. I use to be really into it back in the day.
