So it's Monday, what are you doing on this forum without posting additional pics?

Concerning info from Sale person

So I picked my car up last night and my Sales person of course walked through the functions of the car. Needless to say; there were a few areas that I knew far better than the sales person, but he said a couple of things that made me go "hmmmm".

First, he stated that the software limits the cars output to 80% of power until 3000 miles. Can anyone confirm if that is correct?

Second and most disturbing; he stated that he just attended a training class last week and BMW is limiting launch control to 5 uses over the life of the car and then the warranty is void. Can anyone say "Nissan GTR"? This is the first I have heard of this and I am curious if anyone can confirm this as well.

Finally, I took the long way home last night which has about a dozen low speed corners (well, at least what used to be low speed corners in my 545i). I am a 43 year old man, happily married with two children. I giggled last night. Is that wrong?

Maybe, but if he went to a training class just a week ago it concerns me that this might be a new direction for BMW on launch control and might define the parameters for "driver abuse".

He was generally a very good and well informed sales advisor although I did have to correct both him and the finance person on the fact that the M cars do not come with run flats (ruined their sales pitch on the tire/wheel warranty policy) and that the comfort access key is not rechargeable. He kept insisting it was and I told him that the manual says it isn't (read it twice before picking up the car).

That's fair... He may have indeed been told something new at training. I have no way to confirm or deny what he said, solely basing my comments on my expereince with BMW sales people!!

Rechargeable comfort access is a common dealer misconception.

As for the software limiting - I actually always believed this was the case until i signed up on the board. I thought dealers wound back the redline to 4,500rpm until your first 2000km service, but since people often come here asking if it was bad they took their car beyond it i dismissed it.
