I feel a tug at the heartstrings with the old dog image, but not with any of the others. Clearly it's a personal thing for most people. Same thing happen the last time we had an "emotion" contest. We had some stellar images, but not a lot of emotional context.

as it's a photo forum, the only attention i really pay to the title is when i'm trying to remember which one is which for when i am voting, and maybe that influenced my vote differently then others.

In my opinion the title is just the title and really need not have relevance to the photo itself. However in this case, it does kind of help to tell the story in the photos, but isn' a photo supposed to say a thousand words? so why should a tittle matter?

I looked at the photo, asked myself if it fit the contest. That cut out the majority of these (IMO obviously).

I then took those, and physically looked at the quality of the photo and made my decision. Whether that's right or wrong...you guys need to live with that thought from me.

Unfortunately, unless I missed the pictures of our brave, fallen soldiers in their coffins, I think we all missed the mark in some way.

I tried looking at only the photos, but resorted to looking and the combination of title and image.

I think this would have been one to see how the voting would go with no titles, so the image's "emotion" would need to be self-evident. I only voted for two because I thought only two showed emotion. Many were simply pretty pix to me.

My own entry seems to be a dunce. I thought it would show emotion to others also, but it apparently does not. I can't disagree with that. My own emotion is surely colored by lost friends, etc.

One that made the original cut with me...but that guy standing on the left is a photo killer, especially since he's blocking the main part of the view. Maybe if he was bowing his head it would be different...

Of course, since I'm not getting much love in this thread either...I should just shut my pie hole.

Although, I'd like to see it be a 'new' picture though...ie, taken within the timeframe of the contest. So we're not pulling up someone's award winner from 5 years ago.
