Need help.....big decision

I win either way!

Going here: http://www.exoticsracing.com/

in October. Girlfriends sister works at exotics racing and can get me a healthy discount. We'll be out there for her wedding and she is setting it up for the whole family to have at it!!!

I'm over the chance to run 10 laps (with instructor) in one of these cars.

question is.....which one.......why?

yeah this is not a bad position for me, at all.

458 is what I want to pick, BUT the new lambo actually seems much more track oriented.

If I had to pick today, it would be 458.

I am honestly really curious to see if the 458 feels/is faster than my M3. I should have it beat in power/weight ratio.

in that video they say you have to shift at 7500, which sucks looking at this dyno of a 458.

Why not do 5 laps in both?

The Aventador wasn't out when I went in January so I took the LP640, 458, Scud and GT R. The Lambo was flat out scary it is that freakin' powerful. The 458 was awesome but I actually preferred the Scud.

I wanna do this next time I'm in vegas.

Got a question for those that have done it. How does the whole thing work? Do they sit you in a class and teach the course then send you out with an instructor? Can you drive without the instructor? And what happens if you push the car too much? will they kick you out? lol

You really can't go wrong. Either choice leaves you in a winning position. I would personally go with the 458. It might not be as fast as the Aventador but I bet you'd have more fun going at 90% of the Lambo's pace. I want to drive the 458 just to try its transmission out more than anything else.

I wouldn't say the Lambo is any more track-oriented than the 458. The fact that the 458 is RWD, 200lbs lighter and has a racier, higher-revving engine would seal the deal for me. The Lambo is more about theater and outright performance numbers.

And idk what your M3 is like, but I bet the 458 would feel faster simply based on the exhaust note and feeling you get from the DCT's ridiculously fast shifts.

yes to everything except driving by yourself....I think.

I'll let you know in a few months. if they tell me to shift at 7500 they better have it electronically limited....otherwise 9500 will be reached immediately.

You go for a ride first in a pro driven H2....yes a Hummer. I thought we'd just be leisurely cruising to see the course. Nope, he pushes it harder than I ever thought a Hummer could go...lol.

You then do a short ground class where they talk about the cars and the track hints that are set up (basically cones that show you braking points, apexes, etc).

No, you can't drive without an instructor.

The track is very safe with plenty of infield and only one spot where you could ever really get into trouble near a wall. You are told to push the cars as hard as you're comfortable. Guy before me made a rookie mistake with the Lambo and sent it into a full spin off the track...lol.

I vote 458, although the 430 Scud seems like it would be a blast too.

Any Lambo seems like it would just feel like a boat around the track compared to an F-car.

I have been out with these guys - class outfit. They brought their production to LA for a weekend and I personally drove two Fezzas and a Lambo. The 458 was completely booked that day, unfortunately, but the 430 Scuderia was insanely great in its own right. I actually PASSED the 458 ( and a gallardo, and a murcielago) in the Scuderia

The gallardo superlegerra I drove was frankly not as engaging or 'fun' to be in as either Ferrari. Brake feel was not great, and steering was somewhat numb. Fast as hell, though.

AE told me they at that time that they had both the Adventador and the MP4-12C on order. I *will* be giving them more of my money in the future.

FYI, Bring your own helmet if you have one, and a camera.

I'd want the Aventador because it isnot trackworthy and would be more fun (i.e. fighting on the edge of grip, nearly spinning with smoke everywhere... ). Plus, it's much rarer than the 458 and therefore I doubt it will be as easy to come by if you were to do this again.

They're both going to be kinda difficult to drive (confusing if you're not familiar with them) and in 10 laps you'll have barely enough time to get the hang of any of them. Just the steering wheel of the 458 is convoluted enough. It might be interesting to experience the new ISR transmission of the Aventador, it's supposed to be more engaging than the usual DCT. And whether you choose the RWD Ferrari or the AWD Lamborghini probably won't make a difference unless you're truly experienced with either of them (I'm sure as hell not, and it wouldn't matter to me as to which one I'd get.) Plus you need to pay attention to the track and learn it, too (unless you already know it.)

Toss a coin and choose one. By the time the laps are over you'll just have barely become close to being comfortable with them. Just pick one and have fun.

458, though I love the Aventador as well. If the Lambo had rwd I chose that one, just for the classical sentiment.

Precisely. I would choose the car you are least likely to get a shot at in the future.
