They may make a profit of about 2 to 5K depending on the deal.
$46-52k makes more sense!

I guess this really depends on the terms of the lease. For example, my residual value as per BMW FS is $32,292 on a 4 year lease.

As per BUNN's message, the residual for 39 month lease is typically around $37-$39K, and low 30's for a 4 year lease. Obviously factors such as options, term, original Total Vehicle Purchase Price negotiated, etc. all factor into the final amount. BMW wants to capture a large chunk of the value of the car within the first few years, so they can still turn a nice profit on the car should it be returned. This is what makes this whole 3rd party scenario very appealing for someone looking for a used M3 and doesn't want to pay the massive dealer mark-up.

Some typical M3 lease examples:

2008 M3:
Leasing company BMW Financial Services
Monthly payment, before taxes $1,116.22
Monthly payment, incl. taxes $1,259.93
Original down payment $0.00
Security deposit $0.00
Purchase Option at end of lease $36,613.00
Total Kilometre allowance 65000
Excess km charge 0.25
Original lease term (months) 39

2011 Competition Edition
Leasing company BMW Financial Services
Monthly payment, before taxes $2,595.09
Monthly payment, incl. taxes $2,865.72
Original down payment $4,200.00
Security deposit $0.00
Purchase Option at end of lease $38,898.00
Total Kilometre allowance 60000
Excess km charge 0.30
Original lease term (months) 36

Guess I should throw it out there, my lease is available for early buy out now. I think the buyout is right at 56k - my security deposit, so about $54xxx.

Posted more details in the classifieds.

A clause that allows them to buy back the car before any other third party will put this to rest. That said, I also said you can take over someone's lease 6 months before it ends. But that means you'd end up paying a couple thousand more, depending on the person's payment.
I worked at BMW in UK and Canada and here BMW only gets dibs once the car is physically returned - before then its at the descretion of the lessee. However to clarify, 'no third party payments' can be made to FS (Financial services) - it does involve some trust on both parts as the current lessee needs to buyout - no doubt using funds from the buyer!

The direct payout payment to BMW FS is not subject to a dealer fee or indeed the BMW FS admin charge! Both however are applicable through a dealer (usually around $1200 for the two). The the car just needs a safety and licencing......

Sorry it's already gone back to the dealer

If you're interested send me a PM with your contact info - the dealer will be CPO'ing it and since it is a dealer the price will be higher but you could take advantage of the 0.9% financing

if you're interested i could put you in contact with them

it's Jet Black

I called my old colleague at my old BMW dealership and he says its 3.9% on the M products and only 0.9% on regular 1 series and 3 series........

Really depends too if that dealer takes into pre owned stock. They get first refusal but otherwise it'll go to a generic closed BMW auction and could end up anywhere! No doubt by the time its had new discs and rotars, tyres etc etc it'll be a fortune CPO or not

Thanks anyway but ill keep searching

My dealer bought it off me personally so it is in their lot - I think it is just awaiting CPO

the website also says "With financing at 0.9%, there’s never been a better time to drive away in a Certified Series BMW. This applies to our entire selection of 2007-2011 models, even M Models"

Hmmmm - ill look at the website, but from memory of being a BMW salesman, usually confusion lies with the wording of 'rates starting as low as 0.9% etc' and my chum has the BMW specific released rates from the manufacturer that the general public shouldn't have access to.......but he has been wrong before!

New to this forum, but I'm in the market for a well kept lease return 2008-2009 AW M3. Would prefer to have the following: 6 spd, carbon roof, navi, and no accidents. If you have something of similar nature I would be interested in buying out your car, and providing you with an additional monetary token of appreciation. =)

Located in Toronto - Thanks.

Yes, with candy coat finish. Only detectable up close, kind of like the stock carbon fibre roof.
