BMW Performance seats discontinued?

I called a couple of dealers and it seems that this seat is discontinued.

Anyone know if it can be ordered with a new car and how much it is?

Do they still cost an arm and a leg just for one?

Since the Performance seats were never a US option, the occupancy mat in the passenger seat will not work properly with US vehicles without custom coding or through emulation like the Macht Schnell OC3 module.

Most simply choose the Recaro Sportster CS seats, which is where the seats derived from (sans airbags). Here's a comparison of the two:

BMW Performance Seat:

Recaro Sportster CS

BMW Performance Seats will only shed about 10lbs ea compared to stock, while Sportster CS are approx 40lbs lighter each weighing in close to the POle Position race shells - and well under the steep price of the BMW versions (over $5K).

We're an authorized Recaro dealer, and have all hardware needed for a full bolt-in installation. Feel free to call or email me if you should have any questions.
