Damn Fremont BMW!

I took my car in to have some routine work done... I waited for a while and they told me it was done. I walk outside and see this on my car.

I was so pissed off. WTF! Damn guys don't even know how to drive/park a car? They apologized and said their body shop will take care of it. If I hadn't called them out on it, they wouldn't have told me and nothing would have been done. Now I can't drive my car for a week while they work on it.

Sorry for the rant, definitely ruined my day.

F*CK stealerships! When I gave them my car for the break-in inspection (they could only book me in by the time I had reached 4500kms I might add) they parked it right over the 'curbs' they have in there parking spots and a rubber seal on the underside got detached, they never claimed the problem as theres and thus it is still hanging off! Sorry to see this on your car but at least they are taking care of it

I think I would have been less mad if they'd told me about it. Instead they didn't say anything hoping I wouldn't notice it and they can get away with it. That is really shady.

hoping you spoke the service manager along with dealership higher ups or at least plan to regarding them not informing you of damaged incurred while in their "care"

hope they gave you a nice loaner...

Any updates about these guys at Fremont BMW?

How's the repair on your car? Did they explain any further? I bet if you had drove it home and you claimed it later, they would wash their hands completely and say it didn't happen there. How convenient....luckily you caught it just in time.

I hope they manned up to this.

I would have requested a written statement that they will pay you to take it to your own shop

This way you can make sure it's done right and not half-assed

Here's an update:

I went to pick up the car yesterday. Looked at the bumper, it looked fine. Checked out the rest of the car. It all looked okay. The interior was a bit dirty but nothing a good vacuum and wipe down can't do. So I drive off.

About 1/2 way home (1 hour drive), I notice that the steering wheel is off center. When going straight, the steering wheel is slightly tilted. 1st thought.. the alignment is off. It was perfect before going to the dealer. I really don't want to bring it back to Fremont BMW so I make an appointment at my local shop that I go to all the time for a wheel alignment.

I bring the car in, they put it on the laser alignment rack and sure enough, alignment is way out in front. 4.6mm of toe on one wheel when alignment specs call for 0.6-1.5mm While underneath the car, we also notice that there is some kind of grease/oil leak coming from the front of the car. And a BENT FRONT WHEEL.

WTF?!?! It takes quite a hit to bend a wheel! WTF are they doing? WTF did they do to my car!?

That's bullshit. Call the gm and tell him exactly what you want and how you will have it done at a shop of your choice. Get a new wheel, not repaired...since that is what you drove in with. Also, if they didn't check, make sure there is no damage to the oil pan. Probably some idiot lot kid did it, but who knows. Good luck.

I am getting the bent wheel repaired out of pocket as I can't stand the vibration from the steering wheel. The alignment has been fixed out of pocket as well. I plan on dropping the car off at another dealership to get the leak looked at.

I am not going back to that dealer.

Does anyone know a good SA at Peter Pan BMW in Burlingame?

That totally sucks man!

Dealerships suck when it comes to customer service once you buy the car.

FYI: DON'T take it to the Mt. View BMW dealership...there service is pretty bad too.

oh wow that's crazy. I've never had any problems with Fremont BMW. I always go with Nick Lal as my SA though and he always makes sure there's no problems.

I was assigned Brittany as my SA at Fremont. I purchased the car there and I didn't know anyone so she was the one assigned to me.

Well that sucks that you had a bad experience at Fremont. I doubt you will, but if you ever do go back there ask for Nick Lal. I've had good experiences at East Bay bmw as well.

If you have a moment, please feel free to fill out a dealer review. I'll have to get to organizing the thread soon.

Update:

I got a call from the Service Dept Manager. At first he said he doesn't think all that happened during the time it was at the dealership. He said the car wasn't driven by anyone while it was there...

I told them that I'd purchased the car from them, it's been no where except their dealership within my 1 month of ownership (the car was pre-owned) so either the wheel was already bent when they sold it to me or it happened while it was there. Also, they obviously curbed the front of the car and the alignment is out. Either way it is their responsibility.

After that, He said to send him the invoice for the wheel alignment and the wheel repair and they'll pay for it. He said the oil looking stuff could be rust proofing stuff they apply to the bottom of the cars, over time it can melt and run.

So in the end, they seem pretty reasonable and is going to take care of it. I would have preferred not to go through this headache though.

Wow...With all that happened to your car, I would suggest you have the suspension completely inspected. If they bent a wheel and scratched up your bumper, what else may be wrong that is not obvious?

I inspected the suspension. I do a lot of suspension installs on my previous cars and assorted maintenance on my own so I generally know where to look. The suspension arms appear to be fine, no play in the suspension/wheel and the alignment was brought back to spec without maximizing the toe adjustment so all appears to be in order. Damaged suspension arms/links also show on the alignment sheet as odd caster and/or camber which did not show up. Still, a professional inspection may be a good thing. Thanks for suggestion it.
