If you aren't convinced the M3 is the car to buy, what with all the testaments and praise this car has received on this forum and in the press, then you should probably be looking at another car.

I'm convinced that I am days away from my new M3 arriving at my dealer.

Test drive it and then make up your mind. There is more than enough information out there to make a rational decision.

None of us are going to waste our time playing your game and trying to advocate the M3 for you, it speaks for itself. Good luck

I only drove the M3 and 911 C4 today. But there was also an R8 they let me test drive! I can't believe they let me, it was a 2011 convertible with the Auto transmission and I about jizzed. I can't begin to describe how cool and awesome it felt. It's not a very good idea to drive one of these when you're looking more at the M3 and 911 C4 because it put the porsche to shame and the M3 right above it. Otherwise the M3 is the way I'll go and I'll certainly be back to talk over lease rates. I don't know what the R8 goes for lease-wise but if it's not by a lot I'll hold off and save up some cash for it. I test drove on of their used 2011 M3's and really loved it. Then I drove the Audi R8. The R8 was fantastic but I didn't really push it, it also felt a bit faster than the M3 but not shockingly fast, this was the V8 R8. I'll probably go with the M3 though since I'm not ready for the supercar performance and costs yet. But fun day overall.

R8 V8 = 414 horses just like the M3 so that could explain that ^

If you already have an X5M I honestly wouldn't get an M3, one ///M would be enough so that I could experience a different brand of car even if comparing the two is like apples and oranges. Do you want to get a car right now? If not then maybe wait a bit and go lease a Black Edition C63, that thing looks BEAST

The M3 pretty much sells itself on a decent test drive, especially with DCT (IMHO). Test drive the car, listen to it scream, feel how it holds you and afterwards take a good look at it...

Why are you test driving cars that are clearly out of your price range? This kind of joy riding is exactly the kind of crap that makes it difficult for the rest of us serious buyers to get test drives in higher-end sports cars.

Lol. I went to the dealership with an X5M which was above the price range of the other two cars I test drove and within the first three minutes the dealer asked me about my car anyway so he knew I must've had some money.

I gave a friend a test drive on my M3 over the weekend. He had a blast. Couldn't believe how refine the car is on regular roads and traffic. Once we were on the hwy, the acceleration and sound of the exhaust completely gave him goosebumps. This is all before he realize that there was a "M Power" button which he didn't exploit yet! Needless to say, after the test drive he deemed it the most exciting car u ever drove.

Drive it along with whatever else you're considering and make your own decision. Different cars suit different drivers.
