well my 535is 1987 e28 (btw we still have her) came with the alarm and on board computer very slick for that time ... the car now has over 250,000 miles on her. I handed her down to my daughter and she will not sell it the car criss crossed North America several times (south and north of the boarder). Just a great automobile

The car is all stock not one item on her is after market. Nearing 25 years now I think the 535is was just a step below the then M3. Great car all around.

Finally break down and just use the FOB button.
Unless BMW gave me depleted FOB's, it's not the batteries, car is practically brand new.
I wonder if there is something about different people's skin and the surface conductance. I have never once had mine fail to work for me but my lady friend can't get it to work more than 50% of the time. I just tell her she's a member of the undead.

What really bothers me about CA is that for E90 owners, it does not work on the back doors!!! What a failure. I realized this when I was driving my brother's around for a couple of days earlier this month.
You can program in Idrive to open all doors or just the driver door.

Have you rolled down your windows by holding the unlock button on your key fob? Roll up your windows by holding on to the lock surface on your door knob (for CA)?

LOL....Although I like comfort access, its annoying when I touch the door handle and it doesn't work. Seems to occur more when its really hot outside. It's nice to just jump in the car and go.

It can also be coded to work from the lock button on your fob

alot of times people do not put their whole hand around the handle. I think in order for ca to work this has to happen(with thumb on top). You cant simply touch the top where the lines are. If you do it from the passenger side it unlocks all 4 doors..

I disagree about the Lexus. I had a IS for a week and the CA worked even worse than the Bimmer, there was a 10 second lag when you tried to start the engine while it found the key. In the M and X6 starting is almost instantaneous, I've never had a CA problem with the M3 yet but the X6 is a nightmare with the doors.

Now you can improve that distance by simply using your head (yes your head) as a transmitter. Point your key to your head then see how far your car will respond to open or close your doors or open your roof it is very cool.

At first I did not believe it myself then I tried it and wow it did work.
Didn't you see the warning sticker??

"WARNING: Using the key fob near your head to extend its operating distance will lead to BLINDNESS."

I'd suggest you only do it til you need glasses.
