Octoberfest Barber Motorsports Park

It may be a little earlier for some but seeing who is coming to Octoberfest? We will be going down and doing the club race on Friday-Sunday. Also another one of us will be doing the driving school on Saturday/Sunday. We are racing our E46 M3 (SCCA T2 form) which won't be competitive in the BMW CCA Class but are doing it just for the fun/experience of octoberfest.

So who else is coming out? Would be fun to paddock with a bunch of forum members.

Also is anyone is familiar with the area, any good restaurants?

barber is a simply awesome track. technical and lots of elevation changes. no super long straight like road atlanta or vir, but tons of fun and it is kept in truly flawless condition. it's also a bike track, so the curbing is very gentle on the car.

shameless plug: consider the bright star restaurant, in bessemer. it's on the other side of birmingham from leeds, but it still would only take 20 minutes or so to get there. it is the oldest restaurant in alabama (100+ years!), and last year was recognized as an "american classic" by the james beard foundation.

it also can manage quite large groups, even as walk-ins.

Nice! We are looking forward to this. We are staying at the same hotel I think, the Renaissance Ross Bridge.

Definitely should get some dinner, hopefully there is some good food around.

I'll be instructing at the race school Weds and Thurs and racing Fri-Sat. There is a good BBQ restaurant up in Trussville (about 5 minutes from the track)- I forget the name but its in front of the Home Depot. There is a good cuban restaurant south of the track. There is also a Mexican restaurant in the area that Bimmerworld always goes to when they are in town. Don't know the name or the location.

Even if you aren't a bike guy, block off about 4 hours to go to the museum (4 hours is a SHORT visit to the museum).

Yep can't wait to get on Barber. Just the way they keep the facility so clean is awesome.

The restaurant seems pretty cool definitely worth checking out.

Nice what class will you be racing in?

Love mexican food good to know there might be potential for a good one down there. We keep hearing awesome things about the museum, its at the top of my list already to spend some time at. Probably not going to help me holding back from getting a bike.

Cool. We are going to have to run CM with our E46 M3 but its in SCCA T2 form. Hopefully we will still have some fun out there with some of the rockets that are in that class.

You can run in T2, you don't have to run CM.

Right just recently found out about the BMW CCA rules. If more people sign up that were T2 cars we will do this. If not we may try to do some minor mods and suspension work to run cmod.

At Ofest last year there were a pair of M Coupes doing some shake downs in prep for SCCA. Based on their stickers I think they ran in T2 during Ofest.

Nice!. Yep I remember those cars last year at the SCCA Runoffs. Nice part about that is O'fest that year was at the same place as the SCCA national championship. Good practice.
