Smile 335is VS M3

Just want to know you guys opinion about BMW 335is and BMW E9x M3. Is anyone out there found that 335is quiet worth the money? Because when I looked at the internet, price of used 2011 335is and 2009 E92 M3 are nearly the same but with quiet much differences. What do you guys think? even better if there is someone who own 335is.

oh my gosh.......This topic has been discussed on these forums countless times, so please try searching before posting something like this.

I priced out a 335is when they came out -- I was planning on being the first one in the state of CT with one.

After my price came out to $62k fully loaded for a COUPE, I said screw it and paid a couple more grand for an M3 with lighter options.

You'll find 335is owners on the 3-series forum. If you want better gas mileage, low-end torque, and simple daily drivability, then go with the 335is.

If you want an established & respected road monster that is proven to have very few if any mechanical problems and is hailed as being one of the best all-around cars money can buy, then go with the M3. Your gas mileage will be worse (albeit not by much, I get 15mpg), but oh do the perks outweigh any negatives.

Once you drive an M car, it's hard to truly enjoy anything else from BMW.

There is no substitute for the S65.

The 335is is a gimmick imo.

I would either buy a CPO 335i with the N54 for MUCH CHEAPER than the 335is

OR

the M3 for a not much more $$$ than the 335is... depending on your priorities.

I bought my fully loaded CPO 07' 335i in 2009 for a little over $30k. It hasn't given me any headaches other than the noisy brakes sensor (because, apparently, I wasn't using the brakes hard enough).

I OWN my 07' 335i (I am 10,000 miles passed maintenance... tuned to ~380whp/380wtq with a JB3, Quiffe LSD, larger FMIC, coils and a Meth kit) and it still hasn't had a HPFP failure (which is no big deal anyway after the recall).

I firmly believe that the N54 is a better DD engine than the S65 or S85 with their irresponsibly low mpg, but I never track (and rarely rev past 5k) and occasionally stop light race (when it's safe)...so the 335i is right up my alley. I also enjoy the cheap mods for the very, very popular N54 engine.

I get 23-25mpg commuting 40 miles a day with 50% street/50% freeway.

As an M3 owner, I agree with most of this post. I've spend a little bit of time in a 335i. (10 or 11don't recall which year) but I was able to get 28mpg on the highway in an e90. It's a great DD, quick, smooth and comfortable.

As an owner of both, I can say I'll choose to drive the M3 100% of the time when I have a choice. My town home has tandem parking (one behind the other) and I'll even go as far as pulling both cars out of the driveway just to drive the M3. The M3 brings much more smiles even on my 5 minute trip to the grocery store.

My point is I don't agree that the 335i makes a better daily driver, but I guess that's purely subjective.

Having just done the transition (335-M3) I can say that it really depends on what you want/have. The 335 is a fun car, easy to make more HP etc. its just not "focused" the way the M3 is. Sure I could have put on some CO, done more engine mods etc but it would never really be the same experience. I actually priced out a 335is while looking and I just couldnt spend that much and NOT get an M3. If you want a comfy ride and a nice all around car, 335i or "is" is probably a good choice. If you want a well sorted driving machine right out of the box, well....you know the rest.

it's the truth bro.

I like to have fun in any car I set my ass in. Even if it's a ride down to the post office. If you don't, that's your problem.

I had pretty much the same 11 MPG in my previous 335i as in my M3 now...so I don't know what's the fuss about better MPG in 335i

No, it is not subjective. You are complete moron if you think an M3 is a better daily driver. Seriously.
