Best roads to drive (Southern California)??!!

People - I live in San Diego North County. The roads here are AWFUL to spank my M3. The scenery is gorgeous being close to the ocean but there are stop signs everywhere you look, straight roads and a cop on every corner.

What are some of the best roads in So Cal to drive? I would happily drive to OC or LA to find some epic roads to drive. There are some great roads in Rancho Bernado heading Northeast towards Escondido and also in east Poway but let's get specific here....appreciate your thoughts!

There's a Porsche owners link somewhere on the site here someone provided that gives a good list of roads to drive based on location

If you don't want to get all the way up to Malibu, this is a route I recommend. I used to do this in Karmas when I worked for Fisker, it was beautiful.

Also take a look at Big Bear routes. 38 > 18 > 330. This route starts/ends at the old Fisker HQ but you get the idea.

Why go to LA when you have roads around Julian, Cuyamaca, Palomar mountain? Oh how I miss SD!

OP. I respectfully disagree. Julian and Palomar are some of the best roads around. Check them out!!!

I'd rather drive those roads than anything in LA.

74->243 Isnt too far from you and a very spirited mountain route if you're not up for any of the big bear rides. Also significantly less traffic especially the 243. Just take the 15 to temecula and hop on the 74 from there, it's pretty well-marked. It'll take you through anza and some pretty scenic areas before you reach the route. Nice for a weekend drive.

#1 on Palomar and Julian. Otay Lakes road in the southern part of the county to Honey Springs Road and Lyons Valley Road and then to the 79 up through Cuyamaca is awesome too. Tons of good driving out here. Definitely no need to go to LA. After my first track day though not much else will compare and SoCal fortunately has plenty of those.
