I'm sure that the OP would love to respond but he's is too busy engaging with 1st, 2nd then 1st again for the SM to CC commute at the moment.

I would get a bike, and ride it to work; don't have to worry about anyone scratching my car, or running a red light (plenty of those in SM, C.city), and don't want to worry about someone leaving a ding on the car.

I have to say, 10mpg is bad. I do 90% city driving as well and average 12.5-13mpg, and I thought that was really bad. I thought about getting a cheap ($200/mnth) gas saving car, but with the added cost of insurance, I end up saving no money.

Bottom line...you gotta pay to play.

Car and view looks great btw.

Funny I was considering this too

Lease a Sentra or Civic for $200/month.
With the added insurance, I'll be paying about $300 a month for it, and the savings in gas wouldn't be 300/month. i don't drive enough

I got about 12 mpg for the first 2k miles. It got a bit better after that. I've got 8k miles on mine now and it was at 16 mpg last I looked.

I suggest you have me code BMW efficient dynamics to your car since it's a 6MT. That will certainly raise your MPG if you follow what the cluster tells you. I gained about 3-4 mpg from following it.

OT: Your insurance would most likely stay the same if you add another vehicle as your declared daily driver (Beater - Primary) and then classified your M3 as a low use weekend pleasure car assuming that you now only have one car in your name on your policy.

I only bet that is NOT the view from your place. If it were, I'm not sure why you would be driving an M3, other than to have a beater! Your mileage may not be the worst, but I bet you DO have the worst average speed.
BFD with all this M3 mileage stuff. We have a 2011 X3. If I put it in sport drive mode, I typically get 13-14 MPG with it! Get on the highway, the tranny goes into 7th and the mileage soars!

The pic is not the OP's view. It's half away down the bluff on using the pedestrian access trail/bridge. Views from 2nd street are very very rare and peek a boo at best. Only Ocean ave and some unobstructed West facing 1st street high rise units will have views.

I never said the picture of the beach was a view from my apartment. It's from the top of the stairs at Montana, not half way down. About 30 seconds from my front door.

Also there is no 1st street where I live. Ocean, 2nd.

Heh, I make the same commute every day from SM to Century City. Probably have seen your car around along the way.

Personally I take Olympic, it moves faster than SM Blvd, especially when you try to pass under the 405

For me SM is fine in the morning, but in the evening, you are totally right! SM Blvd is gridlock. Olympic is perfect! What color is your car? Yesterday on Olympic I saw a grey with grey 18s, looked great.

Sorry, really didn't say you did - others seemed to think so though. I know because I lived at Barry and Olympic for a while a long time ago. Worked downtown for a while. Used to take me 20 minutes. Living in LA must suck now, unless you can work from a laptop on the beach. I live 20 minutes from work in NY and hit at least 80 every morning...

I am not sure but I may have seen you exiting on the freeway the other day.
My M3 also gets around 12 MPG. These MTF's really do go through fuel. Seems like I am filling up every 2-3 days. I'm thinking Cayman R for better fuel economy.
