OEM Exhaust mod by Bimmersport Automotive
Hello board,
We did the famous OEM Exhaust mod to M3post member "ROTURBO"s mint Mineral White E93 M3. I must say this modification sounds amazing, and exotic like. The installation can be done a few ways. Our method was similar to AUTOcouture's method except we did it slightly different. Here are some pics to show how it happens: ![]() IMG_3259 by bimmersport, on Flickr ![]() IMG_3264 by bimmersport, on Flickr ![]() IMG_3263 by bimmersport, on Flickr ![]() IMG_3273 by bimmersport, on Flickr ![]() IMG_3274 by bimmersport, on Flickr ![]() IMG_3280 by bimmersport, on Flickr ![]() IMG_3292 by bimmersport, on Flickr I have a video clip, but it needs to be formatted properly. I will post it up shortly! |

Guys, out of respect for the owners of the car I have requested their permission before posting. I cannot block their plates out of the video. As soon as they give me the OK I'll post it up.

Been waiting for this! Excellent job. Jon, sign me up for the "other" OEM exhaust mod method.
(unless the owner wants to let me listen to his exhaust )Shoot me a pm with pricing details. Would like the mod to be done on the top section and have the can painted black. |

Well pretty much, but only from xpipe back. If the car still has the oem xpipe and connecting pipes then it retains the stock cats which decreases the sound versus an actual straight pipe. A straight pipe, if Im not mistaken, is normally referred to when the exhaust is legitimately a straight pipe containing no cats, resonators or muffler.
This mod will no doubt be a lot louder than stock however as it bypasses the absorption chambers but still goes through the helmholtz chambers.

This is a muffler bypass, it just goes straight from the resonator in the midsection to the tips...there is nothing done to the midsection or cats at all. We do not have a dyno in house, if any of the members would like to I can get something arranged. Power gains I can assume would be similar to any other free flowing muffler on the market, what the curve is like I do not know.
Giccy Gic - Let me know when your ready! Enjoy the vid! E93 on the left = RO_TURBO OEM Exhaust Mod E90 on the right = AA Stage 2 w/AA Signature exhaust & secondary cat removal Last edited by Jon@Bimmersport Automotive; 02-12-2012 at 10:49 AM. |

Since it's almost like a muffler delete... a dyno is needed, not to prove any increase of power but for the completely opposite reason instead.

This thread has some pretty good data. The bypass is straight through. They found no concerning difference between bypass vs. a muffler.

We tested this type of setup (straight through) while developing the E-Tronic and it made zero difference to power. Tests included measuring back pressure through the whole exhaust, AFR and ignition timing delta's. It all remained very consistent. So, definately do not worry about power losses. Reducing the ID of the pipework would lead to a power loss. Increasing the size give no gain. Hope that helps. |

Just to clarify we have used the same piping from your exhaust do the mod so to sum it up this mod will add NO power nor will cause you to loose power. |
