Depends on what you plan on using the car for.

Primary track vehicle, I think the GT3 is the sure choice.

You are absolutely correct. My comment was a bit elitist.

completely would depend on what you are doing with it. Plan on going to the track a lot? GT3[RS]. Want one of the best road cars that can go on the track any time you want? GT2. It is comparing apples to oranges to a large extent, but you can't go wrong with either

I owned a .1 turbo and sold it. I later bought a .2 GT3 and much prefer the GT3. I don't track it either. The turbo is too sterile.

Seems like some people prefer Turbo over GT3 but not GT3 RS. Is there really a big difference between GT3 and GT3 RS?

Turbo for sure...0-60 in 2.7-2.9 seconds and creature comforts.

Unless you plan on tracking regularly... in which the handling of the GT3 really gets put to use.

this is like 335i++ vs M3.

I've driven both cars back to back both 2011 cars. The turbo is insanely fast and will destroy the gt3 in a straight line and will destroy almost anything else. It's the fastest car I've ever driven or been in. The gt3 is simply an amazing driving experience. I drove the "standard" gt3 and was simply amazed on the overall feel of the car. It had most amazing steering/handling And the sound of the exhaust/engine made me fall in love. The gt3 is a wAy better driving experience than the turbo and I was pleasantly surprised with it's compliant ride. The only complaint I have with the gt3 is the clutch needs a lot of pressure to depress. It's really a tough call but I'd take the 8500 Redline in the NA gt3.

Since I use my X6M as my main DD I'll stick with my username and go GT3.
Besides I have already done the twin turbo all wheel drive ultra performance thing twice and need a change of pace.

You are right of course and I must say that the RS is wicked. And, I will likely go that route when I get the call from one of the two dealers where I am first on the RS list. But, I will also say that the weight difference is so minimal that one would never really know. Part is due to the carbon seats which are standard in the RS but optional in the GT3. If one were to option the same seats in the GT3 the weight delta would drop to less than 20 or so lbs.

Yes the 15 HP is nice but again it is only 15. Max, torque arrives a few hundred rpm higher as well on the RS and is no more than the 317 in the GT3. I think the biggest advantage is the slight (shorter) gearing advantage on the RS. Downforce as well is only marginal but it is advantage RS. Of course, it is the sum of all these parts that helps separate the two cars enough at the track.

My good friend with his RS and I do a weekly morning run and I will say that he doesn't pull away. He is also an experienced track instructor and is a better driver than me. Track laps though is where the difference would be more noticeable.
