New member sign-in "hello"

All,

I'm now a member of the M3 (E92) community. I've long been an admirer and recently purchased a low mileage, white E92 with red interior. This is my second car but after driving it for only a week I can't imagine parting with it. My last car was a 2005 Subaru STi that I bought new and while it was a good car the build quality can't compare to the M3. I hope to meet some of you in the Baltimore/Philly/DC area.

My plans now are to first and foremost, get a radar detector. It's too easy to speed in this thing. Going 60mph is painful. Other than that tint the windows, a set of HREs with Michelin Pilot Cup rubber and some carbon. I'd really like to do the carbon mirror covers and the BMW carbon splitters.

Anyway, I'll be lurking daily and posting occasionally. If there any meets I'd like to get to know some of you as I really don't know much about the BMW community.

Welcome! I also want a Radar Detector. I've been looking at the new Escort Solo S3 because I hate wires. Have you looked at that one? Escort claims it's as good as a wired unit.

I've done a little research and definitely want it hardwired but the reviews seem to be old and these newer units (Valentine, Escort, etc...) can be updated. I guess its whos software offers the best benefits coupled with an effective unit. The arrows on the Valentine are nice but I really would considered one of the high dollar units. Right now I think the Valentine wins for me. Sounds cliche but it really is a good detector from what I've read and the situational awareness is priceless.

welcome. Stick to PSS's if you're going to drive it as a DD. Pilot cups won't do well in the wet and in cold weather.

These will only be weekend wheels. I definitely wouldn't daily drive them. Right now I have absolutely no complaints with the vehicle and can't think of a way to make it better. I'm going to try this "launch control" out later this week and continue to fight off the "mod" bug. I insisted the reason I bought this car is because its perfect from the factory so I'll have no reason to change it but it would look so good on some HREs with Cup rubber once in a while.

Congrats, nice score! The M3 is a fine machine straight out of the box...but if you hang out here you'll most likely succumb to the mod bug.

It looks inevitable but I want to keep my warranty so I may just do wheels and some cosmetic stuff. Carbon looks good on white but not if it's overdone.

sweet ride... welcome. Nice mod list you got planned. Any thought as to which HRE wheel you are looking to get?

Right now I'm liking both the 590R and 591R. I'd like something with a lip and maybe go 1/2 to an inch wider in the back. These would just be special occasion wheels. Whatever I get will get Cup rubber. I'm thinking those wheels with a rear diffuser (carbon), carbon indicators and front grill inserts, carbon splinters and mirror covers (BMW). I think a polished lip with charcoal or white anodized would look good. We'll see.

I have a Valentine from my E46 M3 I've never bothered to install in the E92 for over 3 years. Without lidar jamming it is of limited value. "Situational awareness" has served me well for 35k miles, as I certainly don't often drive under or at the limit. Did get one ticket, thoough. Is you car lowered?
