Lol, driving habits have changed. Me getting in trouble happened almost 2 years ago and since then I have been driving safely, like I said, i am paranoid about cops so I drive like there is one following me 24/7

So here is my situation, I am (or was?) in the market for an E92 M3 and I'd be spending around $50k on a used 08-09 M3 with <30k miles. I LOVE the car and I've owned a E46 for a while and it was amazing. But I did get into a lot of trouble with it, (tickets, arrested for racing, etc) and I still have my license but I'm walking a very thin line. My brother recently got a 08' 535i and it is a very nice car, 20' 3pc Asantis etc and its a great looking car and I do enjoy driving it. Just out of curiosity I looked up the F10 535i, slightly used ones and there are some surprisingly under $50k with 10k miles or less. Obviously they are in two different categories but in some weird way I want to convince myself to get the F10.

I have matured a lot (I'm only 21, don't hate) and don't speed (actually I am paranoid of cops now and It's not worth getting a ticket or in my case arrested) and literally drive like there is a cop behind me ALL the time. So if I did get an E92 I'd drive following the law.

So all in all, What would you guys get? And why?

and any other thoughts?
It all depends my friend what you like best. So my advise is get what gives you the most pleasure. In my case I like the M3 for the power I drive it as a safety factor to pass trucks fast and get out of the way otherwise I drive like 10% above the speed limit like most drivers out there

If I were you, I would get the M3, just because you're still young. Just learn to control your driving habits/style. You will have to think thoroughly, maintenance costs, insurance, gas, etc if you're going to purchase the M3. Especially with your stated driving record and age. But in the end it's your choice, I'm just putting my $0.02

M3 absolutely as you will enjoy letting a little of the 'Hyde' in you out; while the rest of the time you can drive like Jekyll- as for the police/troopers, I highly recommend Escort's 9500ci-it has laser defusers - 2 front and 1 rear, memorizes after 3 passes all those stores that use X-band and give you a false signal because it comes with a GPS unit and you have to have it professionally installed by a genuine Escort 9500ci guru. Watch Amazon and Ebay and if you are lucky you will find one for around $1100.00 and another $350 to $450 for installation. So far, it has saved my bacon to where I am about even on the total cost. One downside, properly installed, you lose the finger grip trunk opening feature as the rear laser defuser sits right there and you have to use the key fob to pop the trunk.

535, bah!
Get the 550 and chip it. It'll be the best car you've ever owned. Massive torque is very seductive; and over 500 lb-ft of twist is mighty seductive.

Well.. at least do the 550 IMO. Much more favourable power:weight. 535 is just a bit too low in that dept I think.

Congrats on the M3... whatever you do, don't put on some crappy ass Asanti rims on your car like your brother did on his 5 series.

21 years old for a M3? hmmm, regardless of how much money you have, driving a $70-80k car in your early 20s is never good for health... Get a Honda or toyota!

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm going to go for the M. If I totally cannot handle it, i'll sell it and get a 5er.

Lol. The M3 isn't a supercar as some people are making it out to be. Any car can go fast, it's just a matter of how far you plant your foot. You can get in the same trouble if you are driving a Camry or Ferrari.
