To all e93 bashers..what's your take
I have been following this forum for over a year now and I do own an e93M vert so you may guess where this is headed.
It seems most e92/90 owners here strongly feel e93 is not a real M..or something like it is "very gay" or "driven by girls"...a few questions to ponder: 1. How many e93 owners are girls(women) in this forum? I have seen them mostly driven by guys. 2. How many(%) of 92/90 are real men? Any dislike for "gayness"? 3. ?BMW ads mostly feature men? 4. How many(%) track your M's?Ps: Not intended to flame people, just honest discussion ![]()

You drive an M, no worries. What I gather is if you don't drive the M3 with the packages/options that certain people drive then its not an M rather a "Honda Civic."
1. "If you don't have ZCP you don't drive an M." 2. " If you have 18" wheels you don't drive an M." 3. "And now if have a convertible you don't drive an M." You know you aren't a redneck if you drive an M. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

These are street cars. Arguing about how a certain style of a certain street car isn't the real deal is seriously arbitrary.
I'm what would be considered a real driver, I drive race cars that take 4g in the corners and go 0-100 in 4 seconds. From a real driver's point of view essentially everything on the street is just something to get personal enjoyment out of. When you're picking up groceries and going to the drive thru at Burger King tenths of a second differences in performance are really silly to consider. Think about the situation and you'll surely come to the same conclusion. Some people definitely like to track their cars besides driving them in locations where it's illegal to go fast but at best trying to track a street car is a lot like racing a big wheel or a golf cart. It's a fun thing to do, but it's by no means serious. Virtually no street cars have real performance credibility. The bar for having credible performance really starts at 700 hp and pulling 1g in the corners. If you put most race car drivers in anything slower it will just be uninspiring. Even a $4000 go cart driver will be unimpressed at most of Ferrari's line up. That's why my weekend car has 900 hp and pulls 1.15g, that's the real deal. The M3 to me would just fulfill the role of the thing I most enjoy going to work in. In fact Lewis Hamilton one of the fastest guys in the world was offered any car he wanted when he raced for Mercedes. He picked the Mercedes AMG G wagon. Why? Because that's what he enjoyed most. Take it from him if not me. ![]()

This thread is lame. Drive what you like. Be proud of who you are. A car doesn't make you a real man. In fact, what the heck is a real man anyways.
I think the only thing owning an M3 says is that you like M3's. I'd say most people on this forum can claim the additional moniker of M3 enthusiast. |

Is an M. I happen to like dropping the top. I don't understand why one M Owner would bash another. It's all about preference, I personally think the M sedan is an odd choice, but not going to bash anyone for that. If 4 dr is what you need and you want the power then you get it. Just enjoy the ride and remember opinions are like a$$holes everyone has one. Peace

E93 is not an M3, it's heavy and slow. Only girls who have sugar daddy should drive AW E93 with FR interior and 18" wheels.
Just kidding, It looks like a million dollar and needs a profissional driver to tell the difference between its performance and other E9x, I would have gotten it but I feel uncomfortable with the attention you get if the top is down.

Really? To me it seemed like only a few outspoken people had this kind of attitude on these forums. That attitude has died down. Also, anyone that needs to slap a gender or sexual bias on how they feel about a car has their own insecurities to work out.

Not sure where you are getting this from. The M3 convertible is a hot car. Period. That said, I do wish they had made it a soft top. It would be about 250 lbs lighter and you will still have trunk space with the top down.

I recently spent a lot of time looking into this, and my conclusion is that the M3 is easily the best-performing vert you can get for under $85K. If you're prepared to spend more, some variant of the 911 cab is probably the way to go, if you can live with the minimal back seat.
Comparing the M3 vert with the sedan/coupe, I think the difference is noticeable, but no so much that the vert isn't a real M3. The choice between the two really comes down to much one values the top-down experience versus getting the extra bit of performance - a totally personal and subjective decision, so there's no objectively "right" answer, and it's silly to pretend that there is. |

I love mine.
Not too bothered about a couple of tenths here and there on a track or drag strip. It goes like stink and when the sun pops out I can drop the roof and listen to that V8 soundtrack in all its glory ![]() 100% of the e93 M3s I've seen have been driven by men. Mind you, I've only seen one other in the UK ![]()

I drove my friend's e90 ZCP around the track yesterday after I took my car out, and to be honest, I did feel a difference, but it was more due to his upgraded brakes (ST Brakelines, street/track pads, Motul 600, fresh Pilot Sport Super Sports, and more toned alignment).
I guess cause I'm not used to the seating of the E90, but I wasn't too comfortable (plus I didn't want to change his settings toooo much) His car did feel a bit more balanced, I won't lie. But it's hard to truly compare it to my car as he has mods I don't (read above) and I have mods he doesn't (increased throttle response from OE tune with increased power as well as a Xpipe) Though at that track, the little extra power is meaningless as there are so many corners, but the throttle response was nice.

The E93 in itself isn't gay..but if you didn't get a 6 speed manly manual, now that's gay.
