Get whatever you want. At the end of day when it comes times to sell there will be pool of buyers that will pass on a e92 M3 with a sunroof. The cf roof is a trademark of the e92M3 and it sets itself apart from the e90 M3 or any e9X 3 series. I had a sunroof in my e36M3 and a the moonroof in my e46M3. I don't miss it at all.

^ That's not entirely true. My bet is there will be 99% of people more likely to pass on a car that isn't a DCT, as opposed to the carbon fibre roof.

DCT for most is a deal breaker, whereas what color the roof is tends to matter not. As others have said, 99% of the time it is an aesthetics thing.

Get the moonroof! Mine is open all the time and I love it. The moonroof is great because you can drive your car with the windows up and still let the sunshine and fresh air into the car without dropping the windows. Mine are tinted pretty dark so it's nice to have fresh air into the car without people seeing in.

This really depends on your local market. I find it varies from place to place and is entirely based on demand. Where I live, manuals are about a $1-2K price premium on a decently priced E46 M3, just because there are so few of them.

Thanks for the advice guys. The main thing I was worried about was if it had any effect on performance, as I've seen some posts that say it has a major effect an some that say it has none at all. You guys definitely cleared that up for the most part though.

If you want to maximize the performance of the car for lots of track days, wait and get the CF. Otherwise, if this is a daily driver and you'd like some more comfort, get the moonroof.

Personally, I don't lose sleep over how my car performs.

One other wrinkle to throw in guys, I had assumed with the car being a 2010 that the mileage would be low. Well, it turns out that there are about 21k miles on the car. Should I be worried about that many miles on a 1 - 1.5 year old car?

21k seems like a lot of miles for a 2010 (especially for a car like the M3). That's just my opinion though, I may be wrong...

I have 26K miles on my 14 months old 2011..The way I take care of my car and the extra oil changes I do should keep that car as good as new. I guess other owners who baby their M3 or keep it for weekends made "normal" M3 milage/year much lower in average than regular cars. I wouldn't worry about 21K in 2 years at all.
